[dream sequence]

Skylar woke up alone. She found herself far from the crash site, her back lying flat against the sofa on the team's jet.

She frowned and untangled her arms from her stomach. "That's weird," she said. Her head wasn't spinning, her ears weren't ringing; she felt absolutely fine.

Once Skylar refocused on her surroundings, her frown deepened. There they were, her colleagues, sound asleep in their assigned seats, but there was extremely shrill light coming in through the windows. Nothing like the atmosphere displayed in reality after the jet's take off. It felt more like a surreal place. The atmosphere was cloudy and Skylar could've sworn she heard angels sing.

What happened? It was a good question. Skylar had no idea how she'd landed there. She only remembered being in the SUV at one point and then she remembered crashing her car to stop the unsub, getting out of said car and then... then there was a huge blank.

Skylar got up, careful not to disturb her colleagues until she finally figured out what was going on. Her instincts led her to Spencer. She wasn't even in control anymore, she just did what her mind and her heart told her to. It felt weird, not real because she couldn't feel anything clearly, but it was a welcome escape from the brutal pain that reality tended to bring about.

She slowly traced her fingers over Spencer's face, his jawline and his nose. He looked so peaceful, content, and so she just had to smile at his innocent frame. Skylar just wanted to feel his arms around her. She wanted him to wake up and explain to her what was going on, make the fear go away...

"Sky?" A voice began to ring in her head. She felt a ping in her chest. That voice, she thought. She could never forget that voice.

Lifting her teary eyes, they fell upon the blonde woman sitting on the other end of the jet. Skylar looked down at herself, piecing it together like a giant, confusing puzzle. "It's you," she said. "Mom?"

She nodded softly. "Would you mind coming over here, baby?" She asked. Her hand reached out for her to take, forcing Skylar to move over to her like two magnets pulling each other together.

She wanted to touch her, to know her being there — sitting there and just smiling up at her — was real, but the moment Skylar stood across from her mother and tried to touch her, the woman's hand turned into fog. What's going on? She thought. She tried it again with her mother's soft and golden hair, but there was nothing left for her to touch.
