Skylar ignored her father completely

Skylar ignored her father completely. From the moment she entered the conference room, all eyes were on her. While she greeted her colleagues to let them know she was okay, she refused to meet Michael's eye, afraid she might commit a felony if she paid attention to him.

"You came back," Hotch said. Not that he had doubted she would.

He didn't approve of the close nature of Spencer's and Skylar's relationship, but he had brought her back. The resident genius's power he held over her was fascinating. Hotch kept the faith that it was just friendship, nothing more. Some things didn't need to be understood but rather just accepted, and you always need to look for the good in everything, too.

Garcia looked up from her spot at the round table as she sat across her computer screen, furiously typing away. "Hi," she said. "You're back."

"I am," said Skylar. She turned to Michael. "No thanks to you though."

He rolled his eyes. "You still decided to come back," he answered. The air turned thick again. "The last time I saw you, you were a little more stubborn."

"Yeah. We kind of have that in common. We always come back when we like to without thinking much of the other."

He lifted his hand. "Hold on now-"

"Anyway," Hotch cut in before the situation could escalate once again. He glared at Skylar.

His eyes explicitly told her to hold back, no matter how angry she was, and she hated that. He was her boss though, she couldn't disobey him, not again or he would bench her for all eternity. Or worse, maybe even fire her or snitch to Strauss, both things Skylar wasn't fond of. So she kept quiet, for the team's sake, not her own.

"I'm glad you two are back. Sergeant Brown, would you mind starting over?"

"Sure," Michael said. "Miss Garcia, could you pull up the files we talked about, please?"

Penelope said, "Sure."

The FBI's emblem was once again covered by the contents of a military file. She gave the Sergeant a kind 'go-ahead' as he stood there, tall and terrifying.

"Thank you. Now, I'll make it quick. The reason that we're here today is that we believe this Botulism case to be connected to a series of hits against men and women in powerful positions that have taken place over the last few years. The military's been monitoring this group with great caution. They're hitmen. So far, we only have ten known cases though I'm sure there are far more than we can imagine."

"Why did you call us then and not Organized Crime?" Skylar asked. "They're like one floor above us or something. I know Doctor Anderson recommended the BAU, but still. Why us?"

"Because someone told me you were the best, no matter what the case."

"Is that so?"

"Do I look like I'm lying?"
