Chapter 16: The Duel

Date, 14th of September, 2019. Weather, Autumn. Time, seven twenty-eight. Reign woke up, and looked around. Yanisha Hauser wasn't there. Rheannica could be downstairs. Vell and Serinna is not there either. So she stood up and took a bath. She wore her green sweater, brown pants, rubber shoes, and black jacket.

She went to the Great Hall first to eat breakfast and spotted her friends in the Gryffindor table. She entered the Hall and sat next to her friends. Serinna was eating bread (which is shocking because she usually eats meat), Vell is just eating hot porridge. Reign sat down and told them that she is in the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. Serinna was happy about it. Vell is just nodding while paying more attention in her book.

Reign just ate a toast with marmalade. She looked around and saw Heira on the edge of the table with her friends which Reign expects as members of the Team. After eating, she went out, into the school grounds. She waited.

Minutes later, a girl with black hair wearing a white shirt with black pants came in sight. Reign stood up and approached her with an excited grin. It was Heira. There was one thing Reign forgot to describe in what she was wearing, a checkered black & red polo-shirt around her waist.

Heira: You ready?

Reign nodded. While they were walking towards the Quidditch Pitch. Reign remembered that Heira was two years older than her. She also heard that Heira was a great Keeper in Quidditch, she never misses any Quaffle.

Heira: Here we are.

Reign looked around and saw a lot of tower-like stood around them. They were in the middle of the stadium. They were three gigantic hoops on the two different sides of the stadium. Heira summoned some of the extra broomsticks there and handed one to me.

Heira: Before we fly, I'm going to explain to you the ways of playing and the functions of the balls.

Heira pointed at a wooden crate which seems to be shaking.

Heira: There are seven players in each House, three of them are called Chasers. Our Chasers is Epimetheus, Rey, and Gore.

Reign: Epimetheus?

Heira: Amyssa Epimetheus. Know her?

Reign: Yes, but I didn't know she's a member.

Heira opened the crate and took the ball in the middle with the color of red, kind of bright.

Heira: This is a Quaffle. The Chasers throw the Quaffle to each other and try and get it through the hoops to score.

Heira pointed on the hoops on their right.

Reign: How tall are they?

Heira: About fifty feet high. Can you keep up?

Reign: Yeah. Three Chasers, and they have to throw that Quaffle in one of those hoops that are fifty feet high.

Reign said, with a nervous tone.

Heira: There's another player on each House who's called the Keeper. I'm the Keeper of Gryffindor House. I have to fly around our hoops and stop the other team from scoring.

Reign: Got it. One Keeper, and you have to guard our hoops to stop the other team from scoring. So—what are those for?

Reign said, pointing on the two balls chained up in the crate.

Heira: I'll show you, so take this.

Heira handed Reign a wooden bat.
Heira pointed at two identical balls smaller than the Red Quaffle and are colored in jet black.
