In which, Nina Shi reluctantly returns home to Chicago after discovering a letter from an old friend, Sheldon Jin entrusting her with evidence that pinpoints the murderer of his death.

Nina Shi has excelled through life since the day she was born. From removing the training wheels of her bike to graduating at the top of her class.
Like her father, Jimmy Shi, obligating his life to serve and protect under the Chicago police force. Nina somehow navigated a similar route given a door of opportunities within the FBI academy.
One opportunity, being recruited by the specialized Behavior Analysis Unit.
Life as a BAU agent involves Nina flying across the country to solve the most crucial and time pressuring cases. Some being painful to interpret a mind of a psychopathic killer. Which is another part to the job- sweeping it all under the rug. She acknowledged the light in the cases, such as saving the victims and bringing them home to be embraced by their loved ones.
Then tragedy struck for Nina about three years ago...
It left her in disbelief and falling to the weakest state in which she discovered. A state leaving her completely numbed to shutting down from the outside world. By the outside world, she disconnected herself from family and friends in Chicago to her second family being the BAU.
Eventually, Nina healed those fresh wounds for the sake of returning to her job again and a personal motive. She's one willing to brush it off like the times falling off the bike as a child and push herself even further. Despite confronting the internal demons merely building walls around her.
With her hand gripping tightly onto the past, Nina wouldn't be able to move forward. To free herself of a clean slate and begin again.
