"I'M SURE you're already familiar with this little guy here." I nodded. "Anong napapansin mo ngayon na bago compare sa last CT scan mo?" He asks.Sinimulan kong titigan ng mabuti ang picture. Maybe because of four years worth of experience looking at this kind of pictures, I got better at reading it. The tumor looked a little bigger than the last time, and... "...It has spread in my lungs?"
"Yes. The primary tumor has metastasized in the lungs." Paglilinaw niya.
"But we can still remove it, right?" Tanong ko.
Right. Even before, the old man was able to remove the tumor after a year from my diagnosis, though after one and a half year bumalik ulit ang tumor. But at least it's possible to remove it.
Pero umiling ang doktor sa harap ko. "Unfortunately, surgery is not an option in this state." Pahayag niya. "We can only offer you a treatment to slow down the process, that's all I can do." Dagdag niya.
I shake my head. He's lying. He's playing with me. I sneered. "Can you please stop lying to me? You're a doctor should be able to do something."
"Miss, being a doctor doesn't mean we can perform miracles. And what you're asking for, is what you call a miracle." Sarkastiko niyang sagot sa'kin.
What he said makes a lot of sense, but I can't seem to accept it. It's like he's saying that I'll die indirectly, but I can't! I can't die!
I snapped and stood up. "You're lying." I accuse him. "Ano bang kailangan mo? I know doctors like you." You just want us to pay you more money."
"Excuse me?"
"Magkano ba kailangan mo? I have money! Kung gusto mo, I'll even give you my safe!" I yell at him.
Unexpectedly, hinampas niya ang results ko na hawak niya sa mesa at tumayo din, and I noticed that he was a foot taller than me, so I was now the one who's looking up. "For your information," he started with his deep voice. "I also have a lot of money." He said. "At kahit pa ibigay mo sa'kin ang lahat ng pera at pag-aari mo, it won't change the fact that you-!" Itinuro niya ko. "Are going to die!" Sigaw niya.
"Stop yelling at me!" I yell back.
"You're the one who yelled first!" Katwiran niya.
I'll find a doctor who's a lot better than you!" I said and left his office.
At some point when I was diagnosed, I knew I had less time than everyone else. I knew that I was gonna die soon, but not this soon. I still have a lot of things to do, a lot of things to say,
