I SCOFFED WHILE LOOKING AT MYSELF at my full length mirror, thinking about those words that Aleeza told me yesterday."I'm here to visit my boyfriend. Bakit, hindi puwede?" Mataray niyang sagot sa'kin noong isang araw.
What? Boyfriend? Sarap talagang sampalin ng bunganga ng batang 'yun.
"Ask him if you want."
Is she really serious? Is she really dating that guy?
I shook my head. Whatever! I'll just ask Grid later.
Inayos ko ng mabuti ang suit ko at bumaba sa ground floor at dumeretso sa dining room. everyone was already there except me. "Good morning, mom, dad, bati ko sa dalawa at umupo sa kanan ni papa, opposite from mo and Amandine.
"Amandine, why are you still on your phone, wala ka bang balak kumain?"
"Oh, sorry." Sabi niya at agad namang itinabi ang phone niya.
It's just the four of us here in this big house since our eldest brother is still overseas, but we're doing fine. Though it kind of feels empty compared when we were kids. Laging maingay, takbuhan dito, takbuhan doon, tapos mamaya, may maririnig ka na lang na umiiyak o kaya naman nag-aaway, but it was fun times indeed.
But now, we're all busy to even have time for each other. It's not like we've been cold to each other, but it feels like we're drifting apart.
Mom and dad are still the same, but for us siblings, it's different. Kuya Alaric is very busy managing our companies overseas, same for me, and Amandine became more docile but she's not that open anymore unlike those years when Aleeza was still here.
"Mom, dad, what are your plans for your anniversary this year?" Tanong ko sa kanila. This year will be their 35th anniversary. Walang palya ang celebration nila ng anniversary but we've never been there since we became busy with our own lives.
"Hm, naisip namin ng mom niyo na magpunta sa Palawan this time." Sagot ni dad.
"Palawan lang?" Takang tanong ko. "You guys could've chosen countries you've never been to yet. Sayang naman, once a yer lang, eh, ilang beses na kayong nakapunta ng Palawan." Suggest ko.
"Hay nako, Amzi, maiintindihan mo na lang pag tumanda ka na." Mom said. What's with these older people saying things like that when you're already an adult? "Alam mo, masarap balikan 'yung mga lugar na special sa'yo." Mom added nang nahalata niyang hindi ko siya maintindihan. "Alam mo naman na d'on nag-propose sa'kin ang dad mo. 'Di ba, mahal?" Baling niya kay dad.
"Your mom is totally right. Anyway, bakit mo natanong?" Dad asked me.
I shrug, "It's just, I think we should also come with you guys this time." I'm sure he'll be willing to make some time if I ask him."
