The next morning when I go to breakfast no one is there, not even Sylvia. I open the fridge and see a sticky note hanging off of the orange juice.
Angel, We had a last-minute meeting, Seth is available if you need a ride but please be very careful and be sure to text me if you decide to leave. -Father
There's nowhere to go but I dont really want to sit in the house by myself. I walk towards the east wing of the house and find Seth's room. All of the rooms have names next to them - we only have 3 live-in staff so it wasn't hard to find- I look for the name tag that reads Sean. Once I find his room I put my ear against the door and listen. I dont know what I'm listening for but I'm trying to decide if I should knock on his door or just walk back to my room. Before I can make my decision the door opens causing me to fall forward.
"Woah, I am so sorry, are you okay?" Seth asked. He helps me to my feet while I keep my head down feeling embarrassed. "Do you need a ride?"
As I finally look up I see his toned chest. He looked like he was working out, he had a light layer of sweat on his forehead and a towel wrapped around his neck. His usually kept hair is mean and messy.
"No, I was actually in the house alone and I was bored so I was wondering if you wanted to hang out." He looked taken back as if I asked him to help me bury my cat that just died. "It's fine if you dont want to I was just wondering." I rush the sentence out.
"No, I want to." He says equally as fast. "I just never imagined you asking to hang out with me. I thought you would be one of those stuck up rich girls that are used to getting everything she wants." He says as he walks into his bedroom. I take that as a sign to follow him.
"What? Even after our conversation yesterday?"
"No, of course not. that's when I found out you were actually pretty chill and down to earth. I'm so used to picking up your dad's partners and their daughters. Sometimes your dad makes me drive their daughters around while they have meetings."
"Are they mean?" I ask curiously.
"No, just annoying. They are almost always on their phones when they enter the car. After a quick snap of the fingers and a 'mall please' they pick up their phones to one of their friends. 'omg Britney, guess who asked me out last night. Brandon, omg I can't wait!' Every time I hear them talking to their friends I get the urge to crash the car." We both start laughing hysterically. "You are probably the only girl that has actually asked for my name while I worked here."
"Well, what can I say, I was raised with respect," I say chuckling. "What were you doing before I came in here?"
"I was working out." He pints over to a bench set in the corner of his medium-size room. I walk over to the bench and inspect his weights. "I always try to get a quick workout in before I start my school work."
"What? You're in college?" I ask stunned.
"What? Do you think I'm not smart? Well, you're finally witnessing it. A man with both intelligence and handsome looks." He says jokingly.
"No, just most guys that work for my dad just... work, nothing else. what are you majoring in?
"Computer science." He says confidently.
"Wow really, That's actually really cool. Why computer science?"
"Well, I always loved messing around with computers. I have family who works with computers too, so I seemed to always be around them and I guess I fell in love with them."
"That's amazing. Maybe when you graduate my father will higher you at his company. I don't know much, but I know he has a whole three floors dedicated to computers and computer programming and other sorts. I'm sorry I probably sound stupid. I dont know much about computers or my father's company, but I'm sure if you ever need a job he would be more then glad to higher you."
