I lay in my bed and stare out the window. I couldn't sleep much last night so now I lay here at the crack of dawn watching the sunrise through my partly open window. I love hearing the birds in the morning, it's such a peaceful sound. I hear a knock on my bedroom door, assuming it's my father or brothers I say come in, but to my surprise, I see Grayson with a bouquet of angel flowers- of course.
"I'm sorry did I wake you, I was planning on dropping off these flowers and leaving," Grayson says while walking towards my bed.
"No you're fine, I was watching the sunrise." We sit in silence as I continue to watch the gorgeous red and orange colors in the sky. I can take a guess as to why Grayson is here.
"I heard what happened," he says.
"I'm sure you did, why else would you bring me flowers?" I try to joke but my words just come out harsh.
"I called last night but your dad said you were resting, when I called again he told me he finally told you about, well you know." I nod my head and look back out the window. "How do you fell about all of this."
"There is nothing to feel. I already knew it was true, I'm just glad I got the confirmation I desired. Nothing has changed." I look back at Grayson and notice he has undereye bags and looks severely fatigued. I lift myself up and rest my back against the headboard of my bed. "Are you okay? You look tired."
"I'm fine." I can tell when he's lying. He constantly touches his hair like he is doing right now. I give him a knowing look before he rolls his eyes and continues. " I haven't got much sleep in the past week. I was having trouble falling asleep every night because you're mad at me, and when I heard about the accident I could barely sleep through the night. I can't stand that you got hurt, every time I think about it I get so angry. What if they got you?" I shift towards him and sit in front of him crisscross.
"Grayson, look at me. I'm perfectly fine, I didnt even get hurt. Seth was there to protect me, and I am not mad at you for anything. I just- there's a lot going on right now." I notice Grasyo roll his eyes at the mention of Seth but his face quickly contours into relief at the mention of me not being mad at him. "I'm really glad you came to visit me, I was actually going to call you today."
"I really wanted to come and visit you yesterday but your dad told me it was a bad time so I decided against it."
I hear another knock at the door. After I say come in Sylvia pops her head in and announces that breakfast will be ready soon." I nod while Grayson and I stand up.
"Before we go down, can you stop referring us as 'part of the mafia' it's a little weird," Grayson says with amusement upon his face.
"Are you not part of the mafia? "
"Well, it's not really like that. It's more of... Another business."
"Right... Another business"
"You're dad told me he was going to explain more to you today after breakfast, so just a heads up you will probably be spending the day with your dad." Great, just what I need. Grayson stares at me for a second before he looks at the area under my chin. I was about to call him out for looking at my boobs before he said something.
"You're wearing the necklace." I look down and blush, I completely forgot I put the necklace on last night, why did I even put this on? Deja vu, I always put on this damn necklace and he always sees me right after I put it on.
"Oh, yeah I saw it last night and thought about all of the good memories from when we were kids and decide to put it on, I guess to feel like a kid again."
"Well, I'm glad you put it on...Angel." I've noticed Grayson hasn't called me Angel in a long time, not after I snapped at him at the wedding and told him he was never allowed to call me Angel again.
