You set your stuff down and turned to face Griffin. He ran up to you and grabbed you by your arms pulling you into the closest bench. He sat beside you and excitedly said
"Okay, so I have some really exciting news.. I was thinking since I own a house now, you should come out and stay with me in LA for a little while. I just realized how much I missed spending time with you so I talked to the boys and they said they wouldn't mind."
You contemplated your answer for a moment, worried about your lack of clothing and your friends back in New York, however you ultimately decided spending time with your brother was more than worth missing some people back home.
"Griff, I'd absolutely love to" you said, he wrapped his arms around you and embraced you into a tight hug you giggled instantly excited for the adventures you'd have with your brother.
You and Griffin left H&M and walked out from the mall only to discover it was raining outside. You threw your jacket over your head and ran into the parking lot to find your car as quickly as possible. You searched for the car, and by the time you found it you were completely drenched in rain.
Griffin found it hilarious how soaked you'd gotten and you two couldn't stop laughing, he was your best friend you absolutely loved the connection you had with him. Suddenly the laughs and fits of giggles was ended when your phone began ringing.
You picked it up and saw an unmarked number from New York, you decided to answer it just incase it was something important. Griffin was messing with you as you answered the call, reaching over to tickle you and such.
You shushed him as the person on the other phone said
"Hello is this Mrs. y/l/n"
"This is she"
You responded and slapped Griffin's hand as he once again reached over to poke you.
"Ma'am do you remember filling out the missing persons report for your mother?"
Suddenly your entire body tensed up, Griffin went to mess with you again and you gave him a serious look he instantly stopped and began worrying what could be happening. You took a deep breath and responded to the Officer.
"Yes sir I do"
"Ma'am I'm so sorry to have to inform you that we've found your mother's remains in Little Neck Bay, off the coast of Long Island."
You instantly lost it, you began sobbing uncontrollably you couldn't help but cry. You knew something horrible must have happened to her. You wiped your tears and asked
"Do you know how she died?"
"Unfortunately Miss y/l/n I believe your mother was overly intoxicated and stumbled her way too close to the bay, she must have slipped and hit her head on a rock, she drowned shortly after"
Again tears streamed down your face as the horrible realization that your mother was dead faded into your mind.
"Thank-you for calling me, I'm not quite sure what to do."
"well ma'am since you're now an orphan you'll be living with your closet blood relative over 18 years of age"
"Would that be my half-brother?"
"Ma'am I don't have access to your records once you return to New York one of the city's defax officers will explain everything to you."
You sighed and thanked the officer once again. You hung up the phone and Griffin asked what had happened, you weren't quite sure what your future held, but since Griffin was over 18 you hoped that you'd be placed with him for the next year until you turned 18.
