"STOP I'LL THROW IT AT YOU" The yell from across the dinner table woke you out of your day dream. You returned to reality to see Kasey holding a spoonful of potatoes ready to launch in Graham's face at any second. Unaware of how the siblings had gotten themselves into this situation you quietly watched the argument unfold.

"Kasey stop being such a child." Graham stated unbothered by the loaded potato spoon faced towards him.

"IM NOT BEING A CHILD I JUSY DON'T WANT IT!" She yelled as she pulled the spoon back further

Suddenly Alex stood from her seat and walked across the table to where Kasey was sitting. "Kasey, he was just trying to get you to eat some greens can you calm the fuck down."

You blinked twice hoping your confusion would clear, as your sight cleared. Unfortunately you were still completely in the dark, Kasey didn't want to eat greens? That's not enough to threaten a food fight at a table of adults is it?

Griffin finally spoke up, you heard his voice from the head of the table. "Kace just set the spoon down"

Kasey turned her head to look at Griffin with disgust, just as she did that Macy must've decided she'd had enough. Macy leaned towards her and grabbed her wrist, causing Kasey's finger to slip, and the potatoes to go flying at Graham's head.

You watched in shock as Alex jumped back, Macy yelled, Kasey rolled her eyes, Griffin reached his hand out, and Graham was hit in the face with a spoonful of mashed potatoes.

"What the hell?" You finally spoke up.

"That's what i'm sayin." Said Alex from her standing position behind Kasey.

Graham stood to walk towards the kitchen, potatoes dripping off his face.

"Graham I'm so" Macy started

"it's fine Mae, this isn't your fault." Graham said cutting her off. "Maybe if Kasey hadn't been acting like a child." He said with anger

Griffin looked across the table at you and smiled a weak grin, you looked at him with confusion and he shrugged his shoulders, implying he was as confused as you where about the whole situation.

After a moment Graham returned to the table and flared at Kasey.

Dinner conversation was no longer an option as the table was tense. After an awkward silence, despite Griffin's open mouth chewing, that lasted just about too long, Kasey finally spoke up.

"Okay fine!" She said slamming her fork down. "I shouldn't have reacted that way, I'm sorry." She said

Alex took a sigh of relief as Graham said "it's fine Kasey I know you didn't mean to throw it."

"It was kinda funny actually" Macy stated

The entire family erupted in laughter and recounted the story from their point of view. Finally after the meal was finished everyone decided it was the perfect time to go catch the sunset.

The six of you hopped in Graham and Alex's car and headed towards the favorite spot to watch the sunset.

"So y/n our mom found this place two years after she married Griffin's dad. She brought us all here to tell us that we were officially becoming Johnson's since he was adopting us. Back then Griffin was four, Kasey was six, Macy was eight, and I was 15. Honestly I remember it like it was yesterday, mom brought us here sat us down right at sunset and held up as sign that said "The Johnson's are now a family of 6" It was crazy because I was so excited for him to be my legal dad but the girls didn't get it, anyways after all that it became a family tradition to never go anywhere else to watch the sunset" Graham said as you all drove down the road towards the spot

"I actually remember not understanding the sign, but once mom explained it I was excited" said Macy

Griffin spoke up "I remember mom telling me that everyone was gonna have the last name Johnson and I was confused because I already thought we all did, it took me a really long time to realize that we aren't related by blood, and that well, mom isn't even my real mom."

"I was old enough to like understand that Griffin wasn't our brother and that Dad wasn't our dad, but I was young enough that I still grew up not thinking of them as step family and just family." Said Kasey

"Do you guys remember the day when y/n first met us all?" asked Graham

"I think we were all old enough to remember it, everyone except her" said Macy

"I partially remember, I knew Griffin was my brother by blood, but it was hard to wrap my head around the fact that I wasn't family to any of you guys." You stated

Graham took a deep breath and said "Y/n you are family, just like Griffin is family, and just like Alex is family. Everyone in this car is my family, blood or not."

"Dude I remember me and you bonding so well, I knew you got really confused and couldn't understand how I wasn't your sister though and it made me really sad." Kasey finally said

"Over the next couple of years it became easier to understand how me and Griffin were related and how you guys were just an added bonus to my family" you said laughing

"That's cute y/n/n" said Alex

"Alright guys we're here" said graham turning off the car.
