BOKUTO'S POV

Did I show up to my date with a guy I met online almost one month ago 30 minutes early? Definitely.

When I walk in, Kuroo smirks obnoxiously from behind the cafe counter. He adjusts his barista hat when I walk up to him, his messy black hair looking the same as always. Does he even brush it? How does he get it to look like that? I should know since I live with him, but the mystery remains unsolved.

"Welcome to Starbucks, how may I help you?" Kuroo grins at me, knowing exactly what's up to why I'm here. I roll my eyes as I lean with my forearms against the wood of the counter.

"You can help me by staying out of this, okay?" I raise a pointed eyebrow at him as he snickers, nodding.

"Okay, lover-boy~"

I take a seat at the furthest table from the register, facing towards the door. I tinker with my phone a bit out of sheer anxiety, acting like I'm busy with something when I'm really just swiping my home screen back and forth and mashing my keyboard with my thumbs. I periodically check my dry notifications. What can I say, I'm a popular guy.

The cafe's bell chimes obnoxiously when I perk up at the sound, awaiting my lovely's arrival. This time when I look up for the 5th time in about 10 minutes, I see the man in question. My thoughts begin to run wild.

Oh my god, Akaashi is actually walking through that door. He looks even prettier than over the phone, holy shit, I'm screwed. My cheeks flush as I immediately avert my gaze, acting like I didn't just blush over the sight of him.

To be fair, he's looking like I could almost just devour him right here. That's for another day, though. Too quick.

His olive green trench coat reaches about mid-thigh and his black combat boots thud against the floor, giving him about another inch of height on me. His dark jeans contrast neatly with his black cashmere sweater, snug around his frame. With his hair perfectly curled, his eyes almost light up when he sees me, even if it's in the slightest as he heads over to me.

"Bokuto-san," He almost muses, greeting me before taking a seat across from me, pulling one of his headphones out. We lock eyes for a second before I clear my throat to speak.

"Akaashi! I-I can't believe this is happening," I smile sheepishly when I stumble over my words as he chuckles, pulling his overcoat off of his body.

"Well you better get to believing. I'm right here," He waves his hand in front of my face when I space out, getting lost in his features. His perfect jawline could cut anyone, and his lips are so small yet plump, and his eyes are lidded almost constantly, giving him an eerie mysterious look. His eyebrows are even neatly trimmed with sharp angles as he raises one questionably. The locks of curls that frame his face are placed so perfectly I just want to--

"Bokuto," He sings, drawing out the 'o' at the end. Kuroo snickers from the counter a-ways away as I give him a dirty glance back. Akaashi takes notice and glances over, too.

"Is that Kuroo?"

"How'd you know!" I exclaim, groaning while pulling at the roots of my hair a bit.

"Lucky guess. Why'd you pick somewhere where he works, hmm?" He questions, leaning back into his chair almost smugly, yet the gesture is definitely unintentional. I chew my bottom lip.

"Er..." I struggle to combat a witty response.

"Getting nervous?" Akaashi genuinely raises an eyebrow, "Loosen up." He suggests like it's easy. It's far from easy, as my palms begin to sweat. I need to keep my cool right now.

"It's because he's an anxious baby. What can I get for you two?" A voice speaks in monotone. I look up to see the bored expression of the previous Nekoma setter, his long faded blonde hair tied in a bun behind his head. Keiji raises a brow before ordering.

"A grande Carmel Macchiato?" He orders but kind of glances at me to make sure it's okay. How considerate of him. I give him a slight nod as he mirrors the nod back to Kenma.

"I'll take the Mango Dragonfruit, with the usual modifications, a venti," I somehow calmly comment, adding on to the order as the shorter nods his head.

"It'll be right out," The blonde says, leaving the two to their conversation alone.

"It's okay, Bokuto," Akaashi reaches out to rest his hand over mine that's idle on the table. The cashmere tickles my fingertips, but goddamn were his hands smooth. I admire the pastier hand on mine, his hands noticeably larger. I'd like to hold his hand more.

"Don't let me freeze you up," He ends up smirking at me as I widen my eyes. See, here I think he was being nice and considerate of my teenage girl butterflies and hesitant nature, and he goes and makes fun of me.

I playfully pull my hand away, "In your dreams! I'm totally not letting my nerves get the best of me," I deny, crossing my arms across my chest pettily. Akaashi shows a small smile as I suddenly feel myself physically loosening up, and my shoulders become less tense as I relax in this atmosphere.

He scoffs, "Sure, Bokuto-san."

Kenma re-approaches us moments later. He sets our drinks on the table, adjusting the strap of his apron when setting a hand on his hip. He sighs slightly.

"Anything else?" The shorter grunts.

"Nope! Thanks Kenma~" I coo as he rolls his eyes, leaving us once again at the table alone. Kuroo gives Kenma a shoulder clap when he gets back to the work area, being that he interacted fairly well with people during his recent encounters.

"That's Kuroo's boyfriend?" Keiji asks, taking a sip of his Macchiato. I nod.

"He usually doesn't have a shift but Kuroo begged him to come in today to keep him company while we're on our date~!" I smile and Akaashi's cheeks flush slightly, remembering that this was a date in the first place. He fumbles with a Starbucks napkin below him.

"This is a date, huh," Akaashi seems to speak to himself and I nod.

"Look who's getting all flustered now!" I point out, laughing lightly. Akaashi scoffs in a not so intimidating way, averting his glance out the window. Many people crowd the sidewalks but autumn leaves slowly fall in the crisp air from trees bordering the walks.

"Yeah, yeah," He smiles, looking back at me.

"You know, you somehow get prettier and prettier the longer I look at you," I muse almost randomly, as my golden eyes dance with his, and that's when Akaashi's cheeks turn the pretty pink I've been searching for this whole time.
