I knelt before their thrones,
Not knowing it was built on lies.
Stone-hearted rulers,
watching as men die.
I bowed to the queen,
Her crown made of silent screams.
A void of hope,
A grave of dreams.
I bowed to the king,
His rule built on blood,
Of the innocent,
And the misunderstood.
I bowed to the prince,
His cruelty a legend,
A story told in whispers,
Left unquestioned.
I bowed to the princess,
Her scheming mind the doom of many a kingdom,
All the land feared her,
Lest they become her next victim.
I knelt before their throne,
Not knowing it was built on lies,
but I knew it was built on the back of my people,
The lasting ring of their broken cries.
They took my kingdom from me,
They turned me to the streets,
They thought they'd won,
They thought they had me beat.
I laugh silently as I bow,
A final grace to them for the last time.
They don't know,
They've reached the finish line.
