The End of An Era

Kelsey Collapses

You guys had lunch on the set. When everyone was done eating, you guys picked up where you left off from the last scene.

"Action!" Wes called. Everyone was now in character.

Kelsey: (breathes heavy, then collapses)

Newt: (catches her) Kelsey! Kelsey, look at me. Please, you have to hold on.

Kelsey: (with a raspy voice) I...I can't.

Gally: What's wrong with her?

Frypan: That's Kelsey. She's infected.
(The outsiders back away)

Gally: I can help with both of your problems. Follow me.

Thomas: We're not going anywhere with you.

Gally: Suit yourself. But, I can get you through those walls and get her serum.

Newt looks at Thomas. Gally leads them through the base.

Gally: After the Maze, I got picked up by a group heading to the city. They realized I was immune, patched me up, and brought me here to Lawrence. His troops have been at war with WICKED ever since they took control of the city. But, WICKED can't hide behind those walls forever. The day's gonna come and they're gonna pay for what they done. (stops at the top of a staircase and looks back at his friends) Listen, uh. He doesn't get a lot of visitors, so let me do the talking, alright? Try not to stare.

The group walks down to see Lawrence.

Lawrence: Gally. Glad to see that you made it back.

Gally: It was a slaughter. There's nothing we can do against those guns.

Lawrence: No, but they can only poke the hornets nest so long before they get stung. (smells a rose) Who are these people, and why are they here?

Thomas: We need to get into WICKED. Gally said that you can get us through the walls.

Lawrence: Well, Gally should better than to make promises that he can't keep. (grabs the IV and walks closer) Besides, that wall is only half your problem. Getting inside WICKED is impossible.

Gally: There might be a way now, but it's doesn't work without Thomas.

Lawrence: Is that so? Do you know what I am, Thomas? (walks into the light and gets in Thomas's face) I'm a businessman, which means that I don't take unnecessary risks. Why should I trust you?

Thomas: Because I can help you. See, if you can get me through those walls and I can get you what you need.

Lawrence: What is it that you think I need?

Thomas: Time. Every last drop.

Newt comes into the conversation with Kelsey in his arms.

Newt: And, if you have any to spare, we need to help our friend.

Lawrence: Hmm. Who's this?

Newt: K-Kelsey.

Lawrence: Lay her on that table over there.

Newt does as instructed and everyone comes around.

Lawrence: How did she contract it? (Newt rolls up the bandage) Oh no, I was afraid of this.

Frypan: What's wrong?

Lawrence: (runs his fingers across the scratches) Her scars run deep. The turning progression will be faster than normal. Gally, get me some serum. (administers it to Kelsey, and her breathing slows down)

Newt: How long will that keep her?

Gally: It's hard to tell. It's unpredictable.

Lawrence: (to Thomas) Now, back to our conversation. Two of you can go for now. The others can stay down here with me. Just as a little insurance to make sure you find your way back. Do we have a deal?

Thomas shakes Lawrence's hand to close their deal.

Lawrence: Gally, show them the way.

"Cut!" Wes called out.

Everyone came out of character. You couldn't believe that you all nailed it on the first try.
