chapter 21

Harper
He hadn't been back in days now and a part of me grew worried. What if something bad had happened. At this moment I realised that I cared for him. This was bad, i couldnt care, if i did i would let down my walls and he would destroy me like everyone else.
I knew that i had to keep my distance, even if that meant him being cold towards me.

James
I was finally back, i was anxious to see Harper. I hope she was ok. I was a shit person to leave her like that. The file was yet to be destroyed and the reason being was because I planned to track down everyone mentioned in that file who caused Harper harm and kill them. The file also held some personal details about her, how she ended up in the situation which she had recently told me. It also mentioned her birthday, which was in two weeks. Due to the life she had, I highly doubted she had celebrated it for a long time so I already knew that I was gonna make sure she did.

"Want me to come in" logan asked snapping me back to reality. We were currently sat in the car and I was about to get out. "No, it's fine. Thanks though" I reply. "Ok no worries, am gonna go inform Ethan" he said.
I grabbed my bags from the back of the car and stuffed the file inside just in case I ran into Harper before I got to my office. I hadn't let the file go since Logan gave it me. I felt as if I had all hampers secrets and if anyone found out she would hate me.
Walking into the house, it was quite. Almost too quiet. She better have not tried running away. I manage to get to my office where I dump my stuff then head to my room and take s much needed shower. The only reason I was going to find harper now was because of the blood that had seeped through.

After showering,dressing my wound and changing clothes I went to find Harper. I didnt know what I was gonna say but I knew I had to apologise for leaving her how I did.

I found her straight away, she was asleep in her room. I was about to leave when she woke up. "You're back" she mumbles still half asleep. She was too cute. "Yes I am" I say and go sit at the edge of the bed. "Where did you go" she asks more clearer which meant she was fully awake. "Business" I reply not wanting her to find out what we do. "Illegal or legal" she was full of questions today and all i could do was give her a knowing look. I didnt want her to think of me as a monster.
"Well it was boring without you" she mumbles, now sitting up fully.
Did I hear that correctly. I think she missed me. I hope she did. Damn I need to stop acting like this. I'll stop tommorow,  for now I just wanted to be with her.

"Did you miss me" I tease putting my arm around her. She glares at me which made me chuckle. "Of course not, just there isnt much to do around here apart from talk to you or your friends" she explains. My smile dropped at the realisation she was right. I had not given her anything to do. She needed a hobby, something to occupy her time. "How about we go to the mall and we get you something to do" I ask. She looks sceptical but eventually agrees.
