chapter 63

Harper

"That's not true"  I tell Jake, the man who had just appeared in front of me  a while ago. I couldnt stop laughing.
We were both sat on two sunbeds both with a coke and we were just talking. He was super funny and I
couldnt stop myself from laughing at his stupid jokes.
"Oh it is" he says and I roll my eyes "doubt it" I tell him.

"I see you made a friend" james voice interrupts our laughter. He was back and he looked annoyed, it didnt escape my notice that he put so much emphasis on the word friend. "Yeah, this is jake" I say introducing jake, jake reacts and sticks his arm out to shake. "Its a pleasure to meet you" jake tells james as they shake hands but james doesnt say anything to him.
"So I've done with the meeting wanna go into town now" James asks me and I nod which makes james glare, for some reason his deathly glare made me flinch and I involuntary took a step closer to Jake.
"Hey are you scared of him, if you dont want to go with him you can hang with me" jake said noticing the actions.
"Yeah that's not happening, we are going" james says before I can tell jake I was fine, he seemed nice enough but I didnt exactly trust him.
James telling him no frustrated me as I felt like I had no choice.
"Actually I wanba stay with jake" I say just to show james he cant control me. It was petty and stupid of me but I felt I had to fo it.
James looks conflicted but answers after a few minutes "fine, just be careful and call if you are in any trouble" he says nicely to me then turns to jake "if I so much as see a hair out of place I will rip you to pieces" he  says with hatred. "No problem, we can just hang round the pool" jake suggests which seems to make james happy "great, I'll be about" and with that he leaves, but he doesnt go to far, instead he goes and lounges on a sunbed, he removed his shirt and pulled out his sun glasses.  I purposely made sure not to look as I knew looking would turn me red.
"So he seems protective" Jake starts.
"Yeah but hes got a good reason for it" i say remembering everything that happened since I woke up. I wish I could remember more though.
"Let's play truth or dare" jake announced and I nod "you will have to explain how it works though" I tell him in which he pulls a shocked face but proceeds to tell me how it worked, apparently it was always better with more people so he called over his friends who he was with. 2 other men and 2 women and we began playing.

James
Fuck. I'm a idiot. I messed up big time, I couldnt help but act jealous abd now I'm sat quite a distant away doing paperwork by the pool, so I could keep an eye on Harper. I was never going to leave her alone with him, my plan was to have some of my men watch from a distance because I fidnt trust this Jake person.
Now they were sat with a few other people, all of them looked to be in their earlier twenties which I felt better about, knowing she wasnt with people in their fifties or something.
I looked up and I saw one of the women jump in the pool without her top, forget what I said I didnt like the idea she was hanging with these people.
"Truth or dare Harper " she shouts now a fair way from the group. This was suppose to be a peaceful hotel, I mentally face palm myself. I was curious as to what she would choose though so I do my best to listen in.
"Dare" she says trying her best not to laugh.
"See that guy over there hes the owner, ask him out" she tells her and I smirk. I loved this game. Jake was about to say something but one of guys stops him. I wonder if she will do it, she gets up and walks over. Damn I hope she does it, if not I will do it. She seemed nervous as she walks over.
"Hey" she says and I put the papers down.  Apparently her friends are shocked by my action as they looking wide eyed towards us. Jake is laughing though since he already knows we know each other. Ugh maybe I could get rid of him.
"Having fun" I ask and she replies "yeah, they are super funny" I smile, seeing her happy makes me happy. "I'm glad, look I'm sorry about earlier" I tell her suddenly feeling guilty. "Me too, I felt like I had no choice and for some reason i hated feeling that, so I said I would hang with him" she explains and I felt even crapper than before. She doesnt know about her past but I do and what she said broke my heart, I had practically forced her to come with me, I had become one of them. I shudder  "I'm soo sorry for how I behaved, forgive me?" I say and she smiles "yeah I do" littaraly the best news so far. Then I remembered why she walked over "so why are you here instead of with them" I ask hoping she would ask. "Oh we are playing truth or day and they wanted me to talk to you" she said. Talk? What if she no longer saw me as anything but a friend. "You should come play with us" she says and I laugh "I'm sure you having quite alot of fun without me, besides I got paperwork" I motion towards the papers. "Nope, you are doing them optional so you can sit and watch me without being weird, if we went out you wouldnt be doing paperwork,  at least if you join in you wont look as creepy" she says and I smirk, she was right. "I'm not creepy though " I say standing up and gathering the papers. "Surrre" she draws out and I laugh. "Let's go then" and we walk over to the group.
"I hope you dont mind but i invited him to play" harper tells them, the women look excited but the men look  annoyed, the usual effect I have on people  i put the papers to the side and join in.

*A while later*

"James truth or dare" jake asked, a stupid grin on his face. Oh how I would love to knock it off him.
"Dare" I ask, knowing from experience the truth option was never the best.
"I dare you too kiss mel" he said and I felt my stomach drop. Not a chance, never. "Pass" I say and he laughs, ugh he was doing this on purpose so that Harper wouldnt like me anymore. "Nope no passes" he laughs. I roll my eyes and go towards mel after a idea formed in my mins. He never said where to kiss her and with that in mind I gave her a quick cheek kiss, she grins widely but too me that had no effect. I move back to my original seat which was next to Harper. I smile at her and she does the unexpected,  she leans into me and rests her head on my shoulder
Omg. Its happening. Fuck. Ok dont freak out.
Jeez I'm acting like a girl.
"Aww that's so cute" Lucy says
"You guy know..." jake tries to say something but I cut him off. "So it's my turn, harper truth or dare" I ask and she thinks for a minute "truth"
I think for a minute, this was my chance. I lean into her and whisper not wanting the others to hear "jake or me" I ask referring to who she would go out with. I got ready for my heart to be broken again however she whispers "you, always you"
