"I must've tripped on someone." Maria continued to brush her red dress. Alexander made a 'What the hell?' gesture to Peggy. Whom just rolled her eyes in response.
Maria glanced at Alexander's friend, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"Why'd you help me? I've been picking on you since Sophomore year." Reynolds asked Peggy, the two looking deeply into each other's eyes. Alexander scratched his head, peering to his side. Hercules and Lafayette gazed at Alexander with a confused look.
"I'm not really who you think I am." Peggy giggled nervously. "I really didn't mean to make you cry last year." the chat was kind of blurred out, as music started to blast in the room. Alexander shook his head, waving to the others.
"Just get to the others! We have no time for this!" his hands cupped his mouth to make his voice louder. Hercules and Laf nodded their heads, beginning to shove their way through the crowd.
They headed over to Charles Lee, who was playing beer pong with a student.
Alexander, solo, weaved through everyone to get to Aaron Burr. It wasn't hard to spot him. I won't say..
He seemed drunk. Shit. He was stealing Thomas away from John. Alexander quickly shuffled aside, blending in with the crowd by simply leaning against the wall, able to hear the conversation.
John noticed him, his shoulders falling as he shrugged. Alexander puckered his lips, pointing to Jefferson. His friend's eyes widened, his head shaking rapidly.
"Just do it!" he didn't say it out loud, he used his lips, but no sound came out. John gritted his teeth, hesitantly taking Thomas's wrist. His body brushing against John's. Aaron stumbled back, not expecting the take back. Jefferson didn't at all look disturbed, in fact, he looked, excited. Thomas made the move instead.
Aaron blinked at them for a moment, before turning away. He returned to the group of people, Alexander following.
Somebody screeched. He sharply turned. Charles Lee held his stomach, his cheeks puffed. He stumbled towards the trash can, next to the refrigerator. His face launched inside. Alexander sighed of relief, he did not want to clean that up. He turned back to Aaron, whom stood by the front door. Alexander felt his fake beard scratch at him. 'Oh my god, please, let's get this done.'
"What the hell are you doing?!" Aaron fell to the bathroom floor. Alexander locked the door behind him, his disguise still on.
"I just need some questions." He stood in front of the door, blocking it from escape. The shower was on the left, the sink on the right, along with the toilet. Aaron sat closest to the shower, his back to the wall. He didn't seem to get up, he just sat there, an angry face appearing.
"Are you good friends with Jefferson?" Alexander asked, leaning on the counter next to the sink. His voice wouldn't get noticed, as he swished it in a French accent.
"Why do I have to tell you anything?" his eyes searched Alexander.
"Because. I have this." Alexander pulled out a photo of a girl in their grade, called Theodosia. (No hate here.) She was well known for one of the nerdy girls. She was pretty nice though. Thomas did not tolerate these kind of people though, which is what made Aaron talk.
"Yes." he gulped.
"Has he told you stuff? Something no one should know?"
"Yes." he repeated, fidgeting with his hands.
"What has he told you?"
"Um, he has a diary?" Aaron spoke, his voice stopping as he hesitated.
"Where, does he keep this, diary?"***
-Friday-
The bell rang for the second-to last class. He had it with John. It has been at least a few weeks since they met, John and the others have so far supported Alexander through whatever. He entered History, Mr. W was writing on the board. He slipped through the door frame, sitting in a empty seat next to John. The last row, of a few rows before that.
"Hey." John greeted, hearing him settle in.
"Hey." Alexander returned, placing down his books in front of him. John looked ahead, tapping his pencil on his desk.
"Mr. W is taking us out on a walk." his friend beside him explained. Alexander's eyes turned to meet John's gaze.
"Why?" Alexander questioned.
"Well, he said that there were a few historic sights around here." his hands faced palm-up towards the roof, like in a 'I don't know.' saying.
"Alright, everyone." Mr. W capped his marker, placing it down in the place-holder. He turned around, a smile on his face. "As you read on the board, we're going on a little field trip today." he pointed towards the board.
"So, step outside in the hall. Straight line. And I'll take attendance then." After he finished speaking, John raised his hand. Being called on in a heartbeat.
"Yes, Mr. Laurens?" the teacher asked. Teenagers turned in their seats to listen to Alexander's friend.
"What if you aren't straight? Is there another line for gays?" everybody laughed. Except Mr. W. He didn't seem to care, he just shook his head, then beckoned for everyone to leave the room. As the two got up from their seats, Alexander punched John gently in the arm. He laughed in response.(So sorry its a small chapter, I just didn't post for a day and I felt bad so here ya go!)
