The rain hammered the ground as a woman ran down the street. In her arms she clutched a baby. The child was fast asleep as the woman placed him at the door of an orphanage.
???: "Sleep well unto dawn, my child. I'm so sorry that this is what it's come to, but I have to make sure she can't find you. Remember that I will never stop loving you, Y/n...and I will find you again one day."
She shed a tear before standing up and knocking the door of the Orphanage. She then ran away again. The door was opened by a woman that gasped upon seeing the boy.
???: "My, my. What do we have here?"
The woman knelt and lifted the baby into her arms. She then read the note that his mother had left.
"Please take care of Y/n. He's a bit of a troublemaker, but he's a good boy. Raise him with all the kindness in the world. But most importantly, teach him that this world is truly a place worth living in."
The woman closed her warm amber eyes for a second before smiling.
???: "Alright then. Welcome to our little family, Y/n. My name's Evelyn."
She smiled down at the baby who almost instinctively moved closer to her.
She giggled at the child's actions before bringing him inside.
Six years later, on a cold September morning. Y/n was sitting with the other kids from the orphanage with an acoustic guitar in his hands.
Y/n (singing): "cuz I'm half the world away. Half the world away..."
The others were all awestruck when he finished his song and they all had stars in their eyes.
Y/n had proven himself to be the reliable big brother figure to the younger kids in the orphanage. He smiled at them as they asked him many questions about how he learned how to play guitar.
Before he could answer any however, he heard his name being called by the nuns.
Y/n: "I've gotta go talk to Evelyn and Freya, guys."
He stood up and ran over to the door where sisters Evelyn and Freya were. Evelyn was tall by most standards at six foot one, whereas Freya had transferred to the orphanage from Scandinavia. She was also tall and had flowing silver hair with cold blue eyes. Despite her outward appearance, she was warm and kind and always treated the kids like she was their own mother.
She smiled as Y/n sped over.
Y/n: "What's up? You guys need me for something?"
Freya: "Yes, we've got some good news and bad news."
Evelyn: "The bad news is that you won't be able to stay here for much longer."
Y/n: "W-What!? Why!?"
Y/n was distraught at the news until he saw Freya laughing.
Freya: "Evelyn, don't scare the kid. You can't stay here much longer because...you're getting adopted."
Y/n's eyes widened and tears started to form in the corner of his eyes. Freya giggled and knelt to his level so she could hug him as he let the news settle in. This was it, he finally had a family to call his own. A mother. A father. Possibly siblings!
That night was restless for him as he rapidly packed his things. When dawn arrived, he ran out to the canteen and got his breakfast. Evelyn smiled warmly when she saw him with bright eyes.
Evelyn: "Excited for today, Y/n?"
Y/n: "Mhm! I can't wait to meet my new mom and dad!"
Evelyn smiled again as he finished his breakfast. He then rushed back to his room to organise his bags. He then heard a quiet knock on the door from behind him.
