Wake Up Call

Y/n's POV

I groaned as I was woken up by my phone ringing. It was an hour before I needed to get ready for work, yet a call was coming in from the office. Eddie was still sound asleep. It might have partly been V's doing. I picked up the phone with a groggy hello.

"Y/n. Sorry if I woke you but I have a crucial assignment for you today as your Masked Reporter. The man from the restaurant was seen shooting three civilians down town. Two survived. Because of your work last time the police have asked me to recruit you. Go to the scene and get as much information as you can. Then an officer will escort you to the hospital to talk to the survivors if they are willing." Jack laid out the situation. I agreed to help and laid back down looking at Eddie. He was so peaceful. I felt my nerves calm as two arms wrapped around my waist pulling me close.

"What was that bout?" A sleepy Eddie said. His eyes were heavy as he was barely awake.

"I'll tell you when we get up okay? Go back to sleep Edds" He nodded as he almost instantly fell asleep. I felt V transfer over as I stared at the ceiling.

Are you going to be okay today Nibble? I can go with you if you would like.

I might take you up on that offer V. Depending on what Eddie has to do today.

I yawned as I listened to Eddie's heartbeat. Something about it relaxed me enough for me to go back to sleep.

//an hour later//

Nibble wake up. We have work today.

I sat up with a yawn. Eddie grumbled something about staying in bed and I giggled.

"I have an assignment today Edds I can't sleep all day." He sat up and looked at me.

"Is that what the phone call was?" I nodded and explained the situation. "Jack told me we would be working with the police more often, but I didn't think he meant this much." His phone buzzed.

"What is it?"

"Speak of the devil. Jack wants me to check out something that happened last night...shit that many?" I looked over concerned.

"Several bodies were found all over the city last night all lacking major organs. No cuts or lacerations however. Go check it out today with your old camera guy. - J"

"How the hell did all of this happen? I mean the organs just disappeared?" I looked down confused.

"A symbiote happened. Carnage probably had to go through several humans just to make it here. Especially if none of them achieved symbiosis."

"This is what happens? But do we have a match I mean is it safe for us to switch back and forth with V like we have been?" I look of worry spread across my face as I looked at Eddie. He grabbed my hand squeezing it tight.

"As long as I don't go too long without Ven we should be okay. At most I'll just get tired easier. Just like if you were getting sick." V gave a noise of agreement.

"I've made sure I won't damage you at all Nibble. Eddie does need to have me heal him every so often but as long as we aren't separated for over a week or more he will be perfectly fine." I sighed in relief.

After about thirty minutes of getting ready I walked to my kitchen to grab some food. I decided to go for some tighter jeans and a nice green button up. As I was making a bowl of cereal Eddie wrapped his arms around my waist kissing the back of my neck.

"If you want you can take my bike today. We have to take a news truck for the camera and junk. You know, the cameraman has to pick me up in about an hour. And since you don't have to be at the other scene for another two we could go back to your room and-" A cough followed by a snore came from the living room. I looked over to see Kas sitting up. Joe was sound asleep. Their flight wasn't until late tonight.

      "I will buy you anything from Uber eats when Eddie leaves if you let me do this."

     "Deal." She grabbed a small bag from beside the pull out bed. Ear plugs. She put in ear plugs. I grabbed Eddie by the strings on his hoodie and pulled him into my room.

//45 minutes later//

I looked over at Eddie as I slowly caught my breath. He had a big grin on his face.

"Well are you satisfied Edds?" I said with a giggle. He nodded as he held me close. "Don't get too comfy. You're ride will be here in fifteen remember." He grumbled something about my bed. V slinked out looking at the two of us.

"Eddie you cant sleep all day. You have to go check out what Carnage has done." Eddie groaned and looked up at me with a pout. I gave him a quick kiss as I sat up letting him lay his head on my lap.

"Y/n be careful okay. If your scene really was cause by Franco you need to be really cautious." I couldn't help but smile at his concern. After a few minutes of me playing with his hair, Eddie got up and got dressed. I did the same.

We walked out to the kitchen. I dumped the now very soggy cereal down the drain. Kas had went back to sleep after I dragged Eddie to my room. He gave me a quick kiss and passed over his keys before walking out the door. The house was quiet, except for Joe's occasional snores. I sat in the kitchen with a new bowl of cereal waiting for either of them to wake up. I didn't want to wake Kas, but if Joe woke her it would be fine.

Hey guys. Sorry if this update wasn't too interesting. I've had this chapter in the works for a few weeks and wanted to add more, but I also wanted to provide you guys with some content. The next chapter will be a bit more interesting. As for me I've been doing well with my recovery post surgery. I've just been in a mental slump, as one of you will know (hi Kas).
