You're having a girl.
The news is still ringing in my head, and it's making me so damn happy every time it crosses my mind. Nothing can quite bring me down from cloud nine.
"Okay, guys! That is it for today." I shout at the actors and crew as they're looking at me, "Let's enjoy our Friday night, shall we?"
I step off my director's stool and grab the bottle of water on the table next to it. I take a gulp of it, making sure I'm well hydrated.
"Oi, save some for me."
Keneti reaches over to the bottle with a small grin on his face. Just before he can take it from me, I squeeze the bottle, pouring the water all over him.
"You. Wanker." He breathes as he looks down to his now wet shirt.
I muster up a laugh and screw the lid on the bottle, "That was pretty funny though."
He rolls his eyes before a lopsided smirk appears on his face.
"I'd rather get wet because of something else." He whispers, his eyes growing dark.
"KJ!" I exaggeratedly exclaim, slapping his pecks, "You're such a dirty mind."
He quickly shrugs off the dark expression, and grabs a small towel from someone's chair.
He softly presses his hand against the small of my back to guide me to the exit, and a soft spark returns. It has always done that around him.
"How's our mum to be feeling today?" He asks, the light tone in his voice returning.
"I'm feeling pretty great. Let's go home, aye?"
"I'd like to change shirts first."
"Dude. I'm pretty sure your fans would absolutely love to see you walk around with a wet see-through T-shirt on." I laugh as we arrive at his trailer.
"Oh really?"
He wiggles his eyebrows before he strikes a pose with his right hand on his side and his left hand behind his head flexing his toned arms. I laugh, shaking my head as I know pictures of this will surface on the internet. Keneti opens the door of his trailer and disappears to grab a clean shirt.
There's a light kick against the wall of my belly and my hand immediately travels towards it to make sure I'm not imagining anything. I smile lightly as the little one kicks again.
"Uncle Keneti is a little weird, isn't he?" I whisper and I feel another kick, "Yeah, that's what I thought."
Keneti walks out the trailer with a dry black T-shirt on. He smiles as his eyes travel to the hand on my belly.
"Is she kicking a little?" He asks, joining me to go home.
"More like a lot." I grin as we start walking to the car, "She hasn't stopped since the doctor's visit two days ago."
"That's a good sign though, right?"
"Oh, hell yeah."
We finally arrive at the car and I circle the car to the passenger's seat. We get in and Keneti starts the engine, driving us away from the studios.
I feel another kick against my belly and I laugh. The little one has been quiet all day, but apparently woken up ever since I called cut on set.
"I sure hope she's not going to keep you up again like last night." Keneti tells me as he stops at a red light.
"Hey, but we did have fun though, didn't we?" I smile, glancing over at him wearing a light grin.
"I should've known you would think dancing and eating all night would be fun."
"Oh, come on! It so was."
His grins widens.
"I told you so. I knew you were going to agree."
"Yeah, yeah."
He dismisses the conversation as he pulls up to my gate, punching in the numbers so the gate opens. He then drives up to the front door and stops the car completely. He gets out and quickly circles the car to open my door.
"Such a gentleman." I giggle as I get out.
"Well, I gotta show you something, and I don't want you to run for the hills." He shrugs, but I'm picking up on his nervous ticks.
"Okay. Show me then."
I can't say that I'm not nervous too, because I am. It's always been big when Keneti needed to show something or tell me something.
"Take a seat, George." Keneti practically demands me as he points to the steps in front of the door.
"Do you know how hard it'll be to stand up again? Whatever it is, you can tell me while I'm standing up."
I cross my arms and see Keneti sigh as he knows I'm way too stubborn. He takes out his wallet and pushes it so a ring falls down into his right hand. It takes a second to register that it is our friendship ring I left in the hotel room 3 years ago.
"You kept it?"
My voice is soft as I can't believe he still has it.
"Of course." He whispers, "You and I, we'll always be friends, George. No matter what happens, I'll always be here for you."
"Even when we fight and don't speak to each other for months, or even years?"
"Even then." He smiles down at me, "I'm always only a phone call away."
"Oh, Keneti... You're making me cry."
I wrap my arms around his waist and hug him tightly. I don't deserve a friend like him, yet he loves nothing more than to be in my corner.
I let him go, grabbing his hand in the process. He intertwines our fingers, and sparks are going off in my stomach.
It's not the right time...
I pull him towards the front door without another word as I get an inkling. A bad feeling. My eyebrows pull together while I turn the key and open the door.
"I'm so looking forward to some food." Keneti grins, breaking the silence, "I'm starving."
But I can't answer. Instead, I'm met with the amber eyes I've stared at for many mornings.
