The next morning I woke up with extra pep in my step. I got out of bed and got in the shower, lathering my body with my favorite Strawberry shampoo. Edger and Allen were still asleep so I made sure not to wake them up as I made my way through our tiny three-bedroom trailer.

I carefully pulled on a black crop top and my beloved booty shorts then slipped into my black high-heels. Eventually, I began doing my makeup, deciding on a gorgeous smoky eye and a nude lip.
By the time I was finished I hadn't even noticed that Edger and Allen were staring at me from the bathroom door.

Before I could say hi, they shook their heads.

" No." Edger said.

" Don't even think about walking outside." Allen finished.

I raised an eyebrow, " What?"

Edger gestured to my outfit, " Absolutely not." He declared, " This is unacceptable. If you walk outside you'll get the male population pregnant." He said, trying his best to be light-hearted.

I looked down at my clothes then back up at my brothers, " Guys, this isn't that bad." I said, feeling confident in this outfit.

Allen shook his head some more, " No. I'm not ready to be an uncle." He mused, trying to shut the door with me still inside.

" Allen! I'm just going to look for a job, nothing crazy, nothing funny." I stated, pushing past the two boys and making my way into the kitchen.

Edger scoffed, " The only job you'll get with that outfit is an on the corner." He said, grabbing a bagel from the fridge, not bothering to smear cream cheese on it as he took a bite.
Allen laughed, " That or a stripper at Ronnies Baddies." He joked.

I glared at the two, " I took criminal justice in high school for two years, I know how to make your death look like a bloody accident." I said grabbing a mango from the fridge soon after Edger.

The two quickly canned their laughter to a minimum.

" That's what I thought," I muttered, grabbing my purse from the coffee table and quickly looking through it to make sure I had everything.
I furrowed my brows, " Edger have you seen my inhaler?" I asked, slowly becoming panicked.

Allen smiled, pulling the small can from his pocket. " You left it on the counter last night." He said, tossing it to me.

I grinned, " Thanks, bro!" Was the last thing I said before exiting the house. I planned on walking all the way to town, which honestly only took thirty minutes. By the time I made it to the boardwalk I was exhausted from all the fucking hills I overcame.

High heels may not have been the best choice for hiking.

I looked around, eager to find some type of job. As a new adult, I needed to learn how to do taxes and all that shit. Meaning, JOBS.
