When my eyes finally opened after the long night, I felt as if I had gotten no sleep. I stretched out my legs, trying to crack my back as I lifted my arms over my head.
I rolled over and saw Star slumbering soundly beside me, Laddie as well asleep nearby. With a yawn I sat up and looked around, ruffling my strawberry blonde plait that had kept shape through the night.I was still in the cave meaning I didn't go home the night before. Edger and Alan are going to fucking kill me. They are probably livid!
Slowly I got out of bed, careful not to wake Star up as I grabbed my high heels from the night before and my purse from over by the couch.
I slid the heels back on my feet and went to walk out the Cave, only to be stropped at the ungodly hour of the morning." Vina?" Stars voice groggily whispered. I turned my head and saw Star sitting upright in her bed yawning, much like I was doing when I first woke.
I smiled, " Sorry I didn't mean to wake you." I said, walking back over to the bed and sitting down beside her.
She laughed, " Don't worry about it. It just looked like you were doing the walk of shame out of a hotel cave." She said, nudging my shoulder with her own.I nodded with a laugh, " Yeah because having the best night of my life is something I should be ashamed of." I teased.
Star shrugged, " I dunno, you and Marko looked like you wanted to do something dirty." She said in a sing-song voice. I redden and dipped my head, " Star it isn't like that." I tried.
She scoffed, " Do I look blind to you? I think everyone saw you and Marko's hand holding off in your little world." She said, poking my ribs with her index fingers.
I giggled, " Okay maybe I have a little crush on him, but that's all. I'm a classy lady, I need at least a date or two before I think I really like someone." I attempted, trying to give myself standards.Star raised a brow, " A little crush?" She prodded.
" Fine! Maybe I have a huge crush on Marko." I admitted, shifting in my seat uncomfortably. " Is that wrong? Like I've only met him twice and I feel like every time I see him my hearts gonna pound right out of my chest." I said, flopping backward, Star soon following my example.
Star smiled as she looked at me, " It's not wrong. It's what the heart wants. Sometimes when you love-"
I made a face when she said the word love.
She laughed, " When you like, someone. Your reasoning goes off balance because you want to do anything and everything to get to them. You're not wrong, you're just experiencing matters of the heart." She explained, sounding much like a wise mother with her words.I smiled, " You'd make an amazing mom." I said.
She chuckled, and helped me stand up, " I'd love to have children of my own one day." She said earnestly.
I nodded, " You'd be good, but I gotta get home. Knowing my brothers they've probably destroyed the boardwalk looking for me and already hung missing flyers." I joked, grabbing my purse yet again and this time successfully leaving the Cave.
When I first stepped into the Santa Carla heat I winced, understanding why Laddie was shielding his with his jacket the night before. I used my arms to cover my eyes as I began walking home. Times like this made me beg the heavens for a bike or even a fucking car. Anything to save my poor feet from this detriment.
Sure the long walks helped me maintain my figure, but the chore grew tedious at times.
Tiredly I stumbled home, probably looking drunk to passers-by. My hand was covering my face and I actually made it to the trailer. I walked up the steps and breathed in the cold air inside the house, thank god for the air conditioner. Before I had a chance to say boo, Alan and Edger were on me in a second.
" Where were you Davina Rosemary Frog?!"
" Do you know what time it is!?"
" Are you injured?!"
" God if you're hurt I'm gonna kill someone!"
" Answer!"
" Yeah Answer!"
The two boys ping-ponged questions at me, hardly giving me more than a second to answer.
I was still groggy from the morning so I bushed passed them and walked into the kitchen, getting myself a cold glass of water, hoping it would satisfy my heat drawn thirst.
The boys went silent as I chugged the glass of water and I looked back at them once I was finished.
" I met some friends. We hung out, I accidentally fell asleep." Was all I said before sitting down on the living room couch which was not nearly as comfortable as the Caves couch.
Alan ran his hands through his hair, " Davina we were worried! You said you'd be back!" He lectured.
I bowed my head, " I forgot." I mumbled.
Edger groaned, " I forgot?! Is that all we're gonna get? Who were you hanging out with that made you lose so much time?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes, " Nobody!" I shouted for the first time. I couldn't even stop myself as I raised my voice.
The boys stared at me in shock, " Leave me alone!" I screamed, standing up and pacing the floor in front of them. " I was gone a few hours okay! Give me a fucking break!" I let out, waving my hands above my head.
Alan set his face in stone as he pointed at my bedroom, " GO TO YOUR ROOM!" He ordered.
I scoffed, " ALAN YOU'RE NOT MY DAD!" I screamed at him, tossing a magazine at him from the coffee table.
Edger luckily caught it before it could hit him, " YOU ARE LUCKY WE'RE NOT YOUR DADS IF I WAS YOUR DAD I'D KICK YOUR ASS!" He yelled, slamming the magazine onto the table." Fuck you, Edger!"
" GO TO YOUR ROOM! YOU ARE GROUNDED!" They both screamed.
I let out a frustrated yell and shoved passed them and locked my bedroom door. They can't ground me! They are not my dads! They can't control me!
God, I sound like such a teenager.
I tossed my purse onto my bed and walked over to my vanity and began wiping off my makeup from the night before. It was a tad smudged from me sleeping, but I ignored it the best I could. I decided that I'd keep my hair braided until the next time I saw Dwayne because he had some skill.
I took off my scandalous clothing and pulled on something more comfortable. Once my body was clad in a bat-onesie I plopped on my bed and burrito-ed myself in blankets. Do those mother fuckers think they can control me? As if!
I'm hardcore! They can't contain me.
Thoughts raced through my head and eventually put me to sleep. Tonight I'd show Edger and Alan that they couldn't control everything asset of my life.
