There we stood in front of Max, his eyebrows lifted and leaving Marko gnawing anxiously on his thumb out of habit as he watched for Max's acknowledgment. Max's eyes roamed my pale skin, examining the clear-cut marks unquestionably made by a Lycan.
The man took a deep breath before he crossed his arms, " A hybrid?"
Dwayne nodded quietly, " A hybrid..." He anointed.
Max made a chuckle-like sound as he removed his glasses. " A werewolf...vampire....." He said sternly, " I made a deal with Gunther a long time ago that none of my people would cause trouble, and with Davina already having doubled thirst...being a mutt on top of that is just gonna be hell. I can't allow that. We'll find a way to stay hidden, even with Davina's new abilities, but we must first find out what all harms her-"
" We already know a few. UV rays, Silver bullets, things we only thought about in movies. Before Saria and Amber left they told us some more things, sunlight will still render Davina tired and drowsy but will not burn her. Stake to the heart? Practically a myth for her. Not to mention her blood will give her healing abilities!" Paul shouted, listing things off the top of his head.
Max hummed, " Even if the sun doesn't burn Davina that does not mean rules won't apply to her. She'll have to sleep during the day for safety purposes, but I do want her hanging off the bar with you boys just on case." He said as he tilted his head.
David sighed, " That means you want us to finish her and Star's changing tonight then..."
Max nodded, " I do. Those werewolf bastards are getting more ballsy every century. This is for the best-'
" That means Marko will have to mark her-"
" I know what it means!" Max shouted at Paul, taking a deep breath once seeing my taken aback look. Whether it was from him yelling or the fact that I'd have to do the dirty with Marko I wasn't sure.
Marko blushed and scratched his neck, " Could we talk about this some other time?" He asked like a shy teenage boy who was being embarrassed by his father, " I'd rather not talk about my mate and I's business in front of the entire coven."
Max sucked his teeth, " Fine. But within the week, preferably soon, I want Star and Davina fully turned. Not just halflings." He said, " Go on, I don't have all day. Work is long and nights are short." He spoke cooley as he walked us out of the video store.
He handed me and Star some money before smiling, " Girls go have fun. Get rid of these boys for a bit and hang out with Laddie."
Star grinned at took the 60$ bill without hesitation, " Thanks, Max!" She shouted before dragging me away from the boys.
Once the guys laughed at us they got on their bikes, going off to do whatever they wanted to do. Star ran fast for a bare-foot girl, putting my black converse to shame as I struggled to keep up with her pace. I was still in her clothes, but that didn't mean I had to abandon my poor little shoes. Laddie, on the other hand, was running ahead of us.
" Where are we going?" I asked.
" To a concert!"
Before I knew it we were at a loud party on the beach, a large stage set up for an oiled up man to prance around on with his mic. Laddie stood in front of my feet as we listened to Timmy Cappello.
" He's good no?" Star said as she moved her body with the music.
I giggled, " Oh yeah! Psshh, real good. Nothing like listening to an oiled up man sing and play the trumpet!" I yelled over the noise.
Suddenly I noticed someone's eyes on us, that's when I tilted my head and saw a curly-haired teenager and a younger curly haired blonde.
The older one was watching Star like a hawk, but that just made me smirk.I nudged her, " I think curly has a thing for exotic women." I whispered in her ear, nodding towards the direction the boys were in.
Her smile grew, " He smells like cologne and motorcycles." She muttered.
I made a face, " Ohhh, girl you better play this little simp like a guitar before you drop the Vamp-bomb on him."
Star grabbed my arm and scoffed, " Way ahead of you."
I laughed and mind linked the boys, " Boys get ready to pick us up by the pier. Star has found her mate."
I could hear the boys cheering as they revved up their engines, making me roll my eyes. Without a second warning, we started walking away at a fast pace, sorta speed walking away. Of course curly followed after her, making me grin some more.
" You're making this way too easy," I said, watching as she pushed through crowds of people.
She scoffed, " You just wait."
Quickly we made it to the dock, Laddie running towards Dwayne and his bike, while Star got on the back of Davids.
Bitch! You call me a minx!
I licked my lips and walked over to Marko's bike, slowly getting on due to my skirt and wrapping my arms around his torso.
" Hey, handsome."" Hey, Babygirl. Enjoy the few 20minutes you got away from me?" He asked.
I laughed, " Oh I savored them."
" Good because you're not allowed to get away from me for a long time now."
" Oh end me now!"
" Nope."
" I hate you, Marko."
" Nope. You don't. Now hold on tight and prepare to lather me in kisses lover girl." With that he pressed down on the gas, leaving a sad-looking curly-haired boy behind.
