Rachel woke with a throbbing headache and a beaming Rex sitting next to her.
(Good morning, sleepyhead! It's a lazy Saturday morning!)
"Ugh... where am I...?"
(Violet's home.) Rex signed simply.
Rachel squinted at Rex, sleepily rubbing her eye. "Did... did you sleep here?"
Rex looked a little sheepish. (Yes. These are yesterday's clothes.)
"That is gross," Rachel muttered, trying to get used to the brightness that is Violet's home. "What am I doing here?"
"Good morning," Jesse and Jared greeted simultaneously as they were setting the table. It was all very weird and domestic, and if Rachel did not have a headache, her eyes would bulge out of her head and she would scream what on Earth was goinf on.
"Did... you both sleep here?!" Rachel shrieked, and Violet winced as she came into the room, holding a fresh set of clothes.
"Ow... good morning to you too, Rachel," Violet said as she left the clothes at the edge of the coffee table. "Jesse's my neighbour, so he didn't sleep here. Jared and Rex did. Also, Jared just had his mom pick up a day bag for him, considering that we are babysitting you today."
Rachel grumbled as she flopped back down onto the sofa. Her head killed her in response. "Don't need it. 'M fine."
The rest of them shared a look. "You called me at 11pm in the night shrieking for my help and begging me not to call Falcon," Jared said slowly. "Would you rather us send you home? They are, by the way, responding pretty nicely to the excuse we made for you that you were having a sleepover."
"Who the fuck says sleepover anymore...?" Rachel groaned.
"You and I have our differences, but at the end of the day, you need our help," Violet said firmly. "You are having a headache, you didn't eat, you have an oddly suspicious bloody sleeve if you don't mind me saying."
At that, Rachel's eyes shot open and she sat bolt upright before groaning and keeling over. "My head..."
"I'm going to grab a bucket, just in case she pukes," Jared said quickly, going off to find one.
When they had all woken up, the four of them, (particularly Jared and Violet) decided to put aside their differences and take care of Rachel, who was clearly not having a good day.
"Okay," Violet agreed. "Jesse, set the table for us. None of us have eaten yet. Rex, get the first aid kit, she has cut again."
"No, no nononono I'm fine..." Rachel grunted, holding out an arm as if it would stop Rex from getting the first aid kit. "Fine, fine, fine."
Violet gently took her wrist and rolled up her sleeves. She fought back a gasp, a sob or any reaction whatsoever and just croaked out, "Rex, hurry. And no, Rachel. You are not fine!"
"I got it!" Jared said, just in time as Rachel took in the sight of her arm and retched into the bucket he held out for her.
Violet kept her hair from falling into her face as she vomited, and Rex came back with the first aid kit, wincing at the retching sounds Rachel was making.
She could feel the bile rise to her throat, but she pushed it down, trying to soothe Rachel as she heaved one last time.
"Jared, catch!" Jesse yelled, hurling a water bottle at him.
