(Yes, Falcon goes loco on the drums here. Say no to drugs, kids. Also, fourth wall shenanigans. This feels like a crack chapter with a few plot points.)

Rex's eyes were still adjusting to light and movement several days later, waking up to his parents' concerned gazes and an officer, a psychologist and a detective introducing themselves and catching him up on what he needed to know in the days that he woke up.

He was still trying to fight pounding headaches, light sensitivities, get used to moving his body again, when Jared came up with something totally ridiculous.

"Hey."

Rex waved back, still awkward in his movements.

"So the group... the entire music group... we came up with a plan. A sort of distraction really... we kind of need your help."

Rex tilted his head slightly, looking confused and a little annoyed.

"... I lost the scissors, paper, stone game. I was asked to ask you to help us hack."

Rex frowned at him.

"Not illegally! It's just that... uh... Falcon's been sorta scammed... and her custom cards for Elly are kinda nonexistent, and we kinda are running on a deadline to replace it. I mean, Miguel already lied to her and said the package was something he forgot he ordered so she's still expecting another package, which means we're kind of already doing this from the get go."

Now Rex really wished he could just think at Jared.

"And we're doing this under the books because we wanted to surprise her and we all could use the distraction so we were wondering if you could help us?" Jared asked sheepishly.

(H-O-W) Rex signed, slow and sloppy. (C-A-N-T-M-O-V-E)

Jared blinked, as if coming to that realization just then. "Oh... right."

Rex looked more annoyed.

"We just wanted to include you," Jared said. "Wanted to ask you to help however you can."

(C-A-N-T)

"That's okay," Jared huffed, tiredly. "I... we'll be here for you, okay? We just... hoped you could help... somehow."

Rex mulled it all over.

(S-O-R-R-Y)

"We should have been a bit more sensitive..."

And Jared left, and for some reason, Rex felt way more dejected than ever.

The entire music group, minus Falcon and Rex, plus Melissa, Grant and the psychologist, had assembled at Jared's house to launch Operation: Falcon's Cards.

"We should come up with a better name," Izzy grumbled.

"Operation: Insert Name Here Cause We Suck At Naming Shit," Rachel agreed.

"That's not a proper name," Grant whined, "why not Operation: Card Reverso!"

"Frickle frackle."

Violet raised her eyebrows at the detective. "We're all grown up here, you can swear. You don't have to say frickle frackle."
