(Falcon doesn't actually perform Highway to Hell, she just blasts and speaks the lyrics here. Ho boy, this chapter was fun to write. Also, additional note, the city was already named National City way before I started watching Supergirl. This isn't another dig at the shows I watch, it's just a coincidence. So when Grant yells NCPD later on...)
The hallway was dim, the only source of light being the information boards scattered around and the deep blue of the glass windows that showed the sea creatures swimming around beyond.
"They're all going swimmingly," Melissa joked, pointing at the fishes and jellyfish.
"Where's Katie?" Izzy asked, pulling Grant along.
"Oh look, it's the fish!" Valerie exclaimed. "The clownfish in the tank!"
"Shark bait hoo ha ha," Falcon lowly said, waving her hands wildly.
"Touch the butt..." Melissa laughed, nudging Falcon hard and they were both giggling so hard that they were practically rolling on the cool metal floor.
"Children."
"Memes are the best form of communication," Melissa insisted, and then they were both back to rolling on the floor like children.
Rachel grinned, joining the two rolling around the floor and laughing, repeating, "Shark bait hoo ha ha," over and over again.
"Children."
"Peasants!" Rachel said back.
Izzy and Grant were talking animatedly about the latest manga, farther away from the tanks. Falcon sighed and was finished laughing, doing a kip-up from the floor and taking Valerie's hand suddenly.
"Come on! I saw this exhibit and it looks really, really cool!"
"I want them to kiss already," Rachel grumbled. "Why can't Falcon realize she likes the girl?"
"Hey, anyone seen Miguel?" Melissa asked, looking around.
"No idea," Rachel shrugged, looking in the direction Valerie and Falcon walked in, eyeing it critically, before turning to Melissa. "Where's your wife?"
"She'll be here in a bit. She said she'll pick up Jared and check on Rex."
"... how is he?" Rachel asked, softly.
"I don't think you should be asking me that," Melissa shrugged. "I should really check on Miguel since they..." She gestured at Grant and Izzy. "... are talking about stuff."
"Games, probably. I'm surprised the Kendrick siblings haven't joined them," Rachel mused.
"I'll find Miguel," Melissa nodded, and Rachel bounced to bother and butt into Izzy and Grant's conversation. She carefully picked her way down the halls of fish, past people, and by a secluded area where one could look at the different corals, different creatures that were not fish, like sea cucumbers.
She found him there, catching the tail end of his phone call.
"... you hurt me. That's it. We're done. Please, please don't call again... yeah. Be well. I- nevermind. That's it. It's okay. Bye." He huffed out a deep breath, closing his eyes as he hung up, before gazing yet again at the gentle sway of the anemones and the burst of tube worms and the few fish that maintained this ecosystem.
"Bad break up." Melissa knew this dude he was referring to. The case with Rachel was unclassified to her now. The whole performance was just a rocking fuck you to the ex. But Miguel... obviously was not feeling that happy with the separation.
