After the brief display of the Decagram Star Curse usage willingly, my left eye where the curse is placed on is gushing with blood. Roland and Richmond quickly tend to that wound and try to stop the bleeding. But it turns out to have stopped by itself and has returned to normal. My left eye still blind though, but the three of us let out a sign of relief.
"Why it suddenly bleed profusely like that?" Richmond asks as he holds his knee and gasps for air. He might be greatly shocked.
I shake my head slowly as I wipe the rest of the blood from my eye, "If only I knew,"
"Well, for now we know that it can be activated willingly... but it also quite risky," Roland recaps. He looks like that he has regained his composure, "Does it still hurt?"
"No. For a moment, yes it was. But now... the pain is completely gone," I inform them. Quite a mystery.
"But you can't hide the fact that it almost caused you to bleed to death," Richmond urges, "Lucky the bleeding has stopped as quickly as it came,"
"So the conclusion is?" Roland asks again.
"I'm tired, let's go to sleep. That's the conclusion," Richmond proceed to grab his sleeping mattress and opens it on the ground.
Roland and I agree with his conclusion and set up our sleeping mattress. The mattresses are scattered evenly beside the campfire, so we can stay warm tonight and keeping away the beasts from attacking at night. By the time we rest our bodies in each mattress, we soon fall to sleep.
-------------
"Roland, Jason, wake up... Come on, both of you," Richmond quietly whispers as he gently shakes our sleeping bodies, "Keep your voice down, I think there are some people spying on us. We need to be prepared."
Roland and I slowly open our eyes. It is almost pitch-dark. The campfire has been put out so the spies are not able to see us as we cannot see them in this darkness.
"What we should do? Confront them?" Roland softly speaks, almost like a whisper.
"No. We don't know who they really are. Might be some wild beasts too, but I'm not sure. Let's move slowly deeper into the forest against their direction. Perhaps we can somehow lose or take a look at them there. Jason, you lead the way,"
We quickly pack all of our things in the campsite while creating minimal sound as possible. Then, I proceed to move forward, with them following me from behind as my glasses help me to see better in the dark. But even with these glasses, venturing the forest at night is still difficult.
"Watch out for the branches and roots on the ground," I quietly tell them, which they answer by nodding.
The presence of spying eyes are definitely right behind us. "We need to move at faster pace and split up. It might confuse them," Roland suggests as we are crouching behind a very large tree whose bark is able to cover our presence for a while as long as we keep quiet.
"I agree," I am the first to agree, followed by Richmond next.
"Me too, let's scatter. We'll meet at the Lake Mina up north by tomorrow morning. Be safe, both of you,"
The three of us runs toward different directions each. Hoping to confuse and possibly, lost them in the woods. Our next rendezvous point will be Lake Mina, a place known to be the center of Woodshire and its clear and pristine water. But that is not the case right now.
I run to the northeast, avoiding branches from trees, random twigs, and hanging roots along the way. It's not good plan, given that I am blind on one side and now that I'm alone, in this dark and deep forest. I quickly take a glance behind me. Luckily, It looks like only one left behind me, and rest might be chasing Richmond and Roland now. Should I ambush this guy or should I keep running till I lost him? I forgot to ask Richmond about this. I choose to keep running.
