It is still dark when me and Castille meet by the ASAC main gate. We've never left the school yards since we first came here. And this first mission allows us to do so. Castille is already there, with his backpack and equipment. "Ready to go?" he greets me as soon as he finds me.
"Have any idea about how we should get there?" I ask him.
"Sir Palladion didn't say anything about it. So I guess it is up to us in choosing the method," Castille declares, "Let's just begin our walk there." So walk it is then.
Wevrend is a province located in the western of Brighthollow, just directly beside the capital city and province of Highmont. We are going to pass through Highmont's trade routes where it is safer, but we're not going to the city itself. Davenport, the town where we are heading is a harbour town where trading, exports, and imports are its main sources of income. The town is famous for being the first place where traders from overseas come to Brighthollow to expand their business here.
"What do you think of Davenport? Do you know anything about it?" I ask Castille during the journey. We've been walking through the main road for an hour. The sky is still dark. Only pole lanterns placed evenly by the roadside are able to give out lights.
"It is an interesting place to visit. It has many shrewd traders and large ships which hail from other countries visiting here," Castille explains, "I think we're going to learn many new things there. I heard that it has way bigger harbour than we have in Ashenville,"
Yeah. Ashenville is also famous for being the agrarian society in Brighthollow. It has a harbour, but it is not too crowded. Mostly only filled with people who want to fish by the docks. I think we're going to see the big differences between a trader town and an agrarian town by this mission.
-----
It is almost noon when we finally reach the border of Wevrend. Even by then, we have already seen the surroundings that are filled with traders along with their wagons, wanting to venture across Brighthollow. Different from Asheville where many trees can be easily found scattered in the province, in this place, it is scarcer. Mostly filled with buildings, houses, markets, taverns. Funny, how can a cult conduct its activities secretly in such busy place?
"Hey, look there. It's the thing they called car right?" Castille points at four-wheeled cabin parked by the border, " I guess those are common in this area. Only the nobles and the richs who ride them in Ashenville,"
"I never thought that this province would be so advanced in technology. By the way, you're a nobleman's son right? Have ever rode those?" I ask him out of curiosity.
"No, my father suggests me that we should use horses and its kind to maintain tradition. My first experience on it, is only during the first day we came to ASAC,"
We proceed to walk and follow the road signs to Davenport. Many factories filled our surroundings, along with their long chimneys made of steel that spit smokes all over the sky. Grass and trees are becoming more uncommon as we're closing to the town's gates.
As we step on the inside of the gates, the town is already bustling with many people wandering around. Must be a very busy trade town. Now is to find the mayor in the town hall.
"Are you two the spec ops from ASAC?" ask a guard nearby the gates. He might be seeing ASAC insignia on our jackets, "Please wait, I'll send somebody to guide you to the town hall."
The town hall is located basically near the docks. It stand firm with the steel foundation and has a nice view which overlooks the sea and its busy harbour. By the time we arrive there, it is already noon, and the mayor has been expecting us, as seen by how we are sent directly to his office.
