I had just gotten off the phone with Jake when the car pulled up to our house. I climbed down about ten feet, so I could have a better chance to hear what they were saying. All it sounded like so far was a bunch of whispering back and forth. I slowly slid down a few more branches to see if it was any better and if I could see them.

"We know you're in there. Come out and with your hands up, and we won't harm you." one of the guards yelled outside of the front door.

They stood there waiting for a response, even though I knew there wasn't going to be one, I still listened. The main guard that yelled out the command looked back at his fellow guards and gave a little head motion to break down the door.

The big guy standing in the back, walked up to the front door and kicked it down. He looked back before they all started filing into the cottage.

I just sitting in the tree trying to see through a window to know what they were going through. I couldn't see anyone from my view, but moving down anymore could put me in danger. I sat up here watching them for about ten minutes, then two of them came out to the backyard.

"There's no one here. Maybe they gave us a fake address." the first guard said.

"No, I'm sure this is the place. Someone gave them some warning so they could run." the second guard said.

"Wouldn't they still be close then?"

"It depends on how much of a warning they had."

"Well, we didn't find out about this assignment till this morning, so they probably got the news right when we were coming through town."

"And, that's enough time for an assassin to escape. Let's go inside and tell the others there's no one." the other guard said.

"Ok."

I watched as they went back inside. It looked like they talked to their main guard, then they all came out back. One guard started looking around the house to see if someone was hiding under there. Instead he found our skunk that never leaves and he sprayed him. Ugh, he's going to stink for a while.

"Yuck, really man." one of the guards said.

"Just go wait outside of the truck, we will be there in a minute." the main guard told him.

He nodded his head then walked around the house to go sit outside of the truck.

"Look around the woods a little. If you see anything off, call over someone to help you check."

Dang it! I can't move higher in the tree because that would be too much movement with how close they are. They can see me from this spot if they look up from the bottom of the tree.

I watched as the guards walked around the woods. I was hoping big time that they didn't come towards my tree. They all seemed to be staying close to the tree line and not coming further into the woods, like they were scared.

"Ben!" the main guard yelled. "Go look a little further into the woods, while we go pack up."

"Yes sir." the guard Ben said.

All the other guards walked back around the house, probably to pack up their guns since they think there's no threat.

The guard, Ben, walked further into the woods looking behind trees and in bushes. It looked like he was just looking for any sign on the ground. Then I realized what he was looking for. He was looking for footprints, and mine were obvious since I wasn't trying to sneak up here when I came to the tree. He was about ten feet away from finding my footprints when...
