I woke up the next morning to a light snore behind me. I stiffened up immediately trying to figure out who it was, when I remembered last night and Jake spending the night. That was one of my best sleeps ever, I didn't have one nightmare haunt me of what I had done. People may think I take a happy feeling to killing people and that I get a thrill. Well I do get a thrill, but it still doesn't feel completely right. Either way, I wouldn't know any other way since this is how I've grown up.
"Good morning my little assassin." Jake whispered right next to me.
"Is that going to be your nickname got me?" I asked giving him a cheeky grin.
"Maybe."
I giggled when he said that. Wait, I just giggled. I have never giggled once in my life. What's happening to me?
"Wait, did you just giggle?"
"Maybe." I said as my cheeks turned the colors of tomatoes.
"I just made my little assassin giggle for the first time." he said like a grandmother talking to her granddaughter.
"Ugh, really Jake. It's not that big of a deal. Now I'm going to get dressed in my uniform since we leave today for the castle. Your uniform should be in your room."
"Oh yeah. You asked for me to go with you. What a pain in my butt." He said jokingly.
"Where did this nice, not strict, Jake come from. Master?"
"I haven't been out in a while. Give me a break. You have your moments too."
"Just go get ready." I said shooing him out of my room.
It was true though that I had my moments too. I one year made him get me a wii with 'Just Dance' and whenever I got bored or couldn't handle the quiet anymore, I played it. Let's just say I eventually got all perfects on all the dance moves, and still can't sing to save my life. That year was just bad all around.
I got up from the bed and grabbed my uniform off the hanger I had hung it up on last night. I hope it fits since I didn't try it on or give anyone here my size.
The uniform looked like black athletic pants, but had many pockets you couldn't see so I could put my normal assassin weapons in them without anyone noticing. The shirt was just a black under shirt with padding on the chest, so if someone got too close, the padding would save me from a knife wound. To go over the shirt, was a black jacket that had two visible pockets on each side for my hands. Under those pockets though, was a place to store two knives in each for an easy grab. The uniform was a lot more like the expensive assassin equipment that I have been wanting to get. I expected some royal guard thing where I could only hold like a gun.
To finish off the uniform, I pulled on my combat boots that held knives in the sides of them, and put the last few weapons in my secret pockets.
When I walked out of my room, I saw Jake just walking out of his in a similar outfit.
"You ready to go?" He asked with his mission mood plastered on.
"Yes, and make sure you say captain at the end of your sentences for now on." I said giving him the main rule so he would fit in.
"Yes sir Captain." he said looking me in the eyes before we started walking down the corridor to the from of the mansion. This is where we are to meet Prince Maxon to leave for the royal castle.
When we made it to the lobby, I saw the rest of his guard standing there at attention. I walked over to Prince Maxon giving him a small bow before speaking.
"All nine other guards are here and lined up. We're reading to go your highness." I said very formally.
"That is great. I would like you and one of the other guards to ride with me in my car for my safety. The other eight should split up with four in the front car and four in the back car. Each car already has a driver so you won't have to worry about that."
"Yes sir, your highness." I said walking away from him.
"You all heard him. The guard on the left end will be joining me with the Prince. The rest of you split up into two groups and get into the correct cars."
"Yes Captain." they all said in unison.
I watched them as they all walked outside and got into their cars. That left the Prince, Jake and I inside.
I hate using all of these formalities. I like being able to be my cocky self whenever I like, but if I do that now, then I could get myself killed. I also hate being controlled by someone. You can tell that even though it doesn't fell like it, the Prince has more control over you than you think. Also, when Jake and I worked together, he may have done more work but we were like equals in the end. I hope I can keep my act up long enough to ensure the princesses safety.
Wait, Jake never finished telling me about my past. That little sucker finding his way out of things. The next time were alone, he's going to tell me whether it's a good or bad time.
