I woke up and looked around just to remember that I was laying in a tree close to town. I grabbed my bag and started to climb down. Right before I jumped down from the last branch, I heard rustling. I turned my head quickly to see where it was coming from. I found the noise coming from a bush a few feet away. I watched, only to see a squirrel jump out with a bunch of nuts in its mouth. I got all hyped up for nothing.

I jumped down from the last branch and started walking back to town. When I made it to town, the sun was about to set. I took that as my cue to head to the diner to meet Jake.

I walked in the diner to see it packed with people. I walked up to the hostess who was eyeing me up and down.

"Umm, who you guys have a private room available?" I asked in my sweetest tone.

He shook his head like he was trying to get out of a trance.

"Yes, how many would you like to set the room for?"

"Four please."

I didn't know if Jake was going to bring anyone extra along, so I got them just in case.

When the hostess walked away to go set up our table, I texted Jake.

S: I got us a table in one of their private rooms.

J: Ok. That should be good. How many did you set it for?

S: I set it for four seats.

J: That's good, but it's only going to be you and me there tonight. You will meet the others when we make it to where we're going.

S: Ok.

J: I'm just down the street, so be there in a minute.

I put my phone back in my pocket and sat down in one of the waiting chairs. The hostess came back a few seconds later.

"Your table is ready. I can show it to you now." he said with a bright smile.

"No thank you. I would like to wait on someone to show up first." I replied.

His smile dropped but he still said, "Ok, just let me know when your ready."

I sat in the lobby chair waiting on Jake. It felt like he was taking forever, but it had truly only been a few minutes. I am a very impatient person. Just when I thought he could take no longer, he walked in the door.

"Jake! It's so nice to see you. I haven't seen you in so long!" I cheered giving him a big hug while whispering in his ear, "The hostess keeps checking me out."

He then realized what I was trying to do, and played along.

"I know Selena, I've missed you so much." He cheered.

"Umm, excuse me. Could you show me to our table now?" I asked the hostess with a smirk on my face.

"Sure, it's right this way." he said without any joy left in his voice.

Once he showed us the table and told us to enjoy our meal. We both burst out laughing. That's the best thing we've done in a while for fun.

"Ok, now that was fun, but it's time to get to business." Jake said with all humor gone.

I nodded my head agreeing.

"I have that new client that I was having to go see the other day, that's why I was gone. He made a change of plans last minute because this new plan would work better."

I nodded my head in understanding as he went on.

"You will meet him tonight, and he will give you the special gift I had planned out for your sixteenth birthday. Now, would you like to go or stay and eat?" he finished up by asking.

"We can go ahead and go. I'm not hungry from how much I are earlier."

"Ok, well then lets go." he said setting a few tokens on the table for their service since we decided to leave early.

As we were leaving, we got a few strange looks, probably wondering why we were leaving after just being seated. We just continued walking like we didn't notice them till we made it out the front.

"Apparently, we looked to suspicious leaving so early. We're going to need to leave faster than I thought, so we're in the clear. Do you have anything you need to grab?" he asked not so happy that we were noticed.

"Yeah, just let me walk around back for a second."

I walked around the back of the building and started climbing up the fire ladder. When I made it to the top, I could see my bag where I left it, but I heard whispering close by.

"You hear that the famous assassin is in town?" someone asked whispering.

"Yeah, that dude is awesome, never being seen. No one knows what he looks like." another guy said in amazement.

"I can't believe he also leaves the sign 'AS' on all of his victims."

"I know right."

I slowly skulked over to where my bag was. When I reached it, I could see the men sitting on the edge of the building, right on the other side of the vent.

That's when I also saw that they were each holding a bottle of liquor in their hand. That explains why they were talking so freely about that kind of subject. If any royal guards heard what they were saying, they would be taken into the palace and put in jail for spreading word of this not so 'perfect' kingdom.

I quietly picked up my suitcase and walked carefully back to the fire ladder. When I had reached the ladder, I could see Jake at the bottom of it giving me a questioning look. I just out my finger up to my mouth shh-ing him.

When we started walking back down the street, I told him that there were two drunk guys up there. I also filled in the details of them hearing that I was in town. He looked like he was trying to figure out why they knew that, but just shook his head understanding a few seconds later.

We continued walking, until we were about a mile out of the town. We were still on the main road that connected the whole kingdom together when a car pulled up and the back door opened. Jake hopped in quickly, so I went with it was safe and jumped in behind him. As soon as the door had closed, the car was off driving to a place unknown to me. I wonder who this new client is?
