We made it to the front room in a few minutes since I remembered the way back perfectly. Like really, if they want to get me lost in this place, they were going to have to try a lot harder.
We were met in the front room by the same guy who showed us to my room.
"Ahh, there you guys are. Would you like to go talk in my study?" he asks.
"That would be lovely." I said remembering my manners whenever near royalty. You have to make them see you as a fair young maiden, even if you're not dressed like one. Royal guards are always the ones to pay extra attention to these details, and I don't know why they're here yet.
Jake and I followed this young man down a few halls before seeing big oak wood doors. He opens the door, and holds it open like a gentlemen.
"After you." he says looking me into the eyes.
I continued to walk into the room and sat down at one of the chairs in front of a giant desk. Jake sat down to my right in the other chair that was set up.
"Now, time to get to the real business." the young man said sitting down in the chair on the other side of the desk.
I nodded my head ready for my assignment.
"Selena, I can't believe you are the true secret assassin of the country. How old are you 13 or 14?"
"No, I'm 16 as today." I say some it was already last midnight.
"What a coincidence, having your birthday the same day as the young princesses, and turning the same age."
"I guess. I was orphaned at a young age, and very lucky when Jake took me in."
"I see. Now, sorry I haven't introduced myself yet. I am Prince Maxon of the Southern Isles."
I just gaped looking at the man in from of me. Was this all a trap? Why would a royal need an assassin like me?
"Selena, now that isn't very lady like of you." he said with a mocking voice.
"Well, sorry your highness. Just have never talked to such a high royal."
"Haha. You are so feisty. Now, if we're to go through with this plan, your going to have to lose that."
"Sorry your highness. She only does it to people she doesn't trust." Jake said glaring at me for my behavior.
"I understand. May I talk to her alone about the plan? It truly is secert." he more liked demanded than asked.
Jake nods his head walking out the door we came in.
"Now time to get to the real business." he said looking me in the eyes.
I only nodded my head in agreement. Then he told me my assignment.
"Your are going to act as my highest guard that I brought in country with me. You will be the captain. Everyone else on my guard knows to follow you and they know the plan. Now, you are going to have to be feisty when it helps show that you're the leader. You can never act like that in front of anyone high class though. That can get you killed and me in a lot of trouble."
I nodded my head in understanding.
"The last part is what you will be assigned to do after a few weeks; you are to kill the new queen, Isabelle."
I looked at him, nodded my head even though I was shocked on who it was, but I still didn't show any emotion for him to think that.
"I bet you want to ask questions, well here's the only answer you'll get. I want to rule this kingdom, but with a bride that I choose, not one I've never met before."
"Ok, sounds good, but will I be staying with you most the time? That's my only question. I just need to know where I can and cannot go." I said hoping he didn't mind that I asked a question.
"You can pretty much go wherever you like, but when we first go to the palace, you will stay near me."
"Ok, everything sounds good."
"Well, we'll be leaving in a few days so I hope you didn't unpack much. How does going to dinner sound?"
"That would be lovely." I said standing up from my chair.
We walked out of the office to see Jake standing out there leaning against the wall. I mouthed the word 'dinner' to him and he understood falling in step with me.
