Chapter 12

"Now, we can't leave because he knows where we use to live and that's totally destroyed." Jake said while I sat there nodding my head in agreement.

"What we're going to do is, we are going to go along with his plan like nothing has happened. You are to get close to the princess. You need to talk to her and preferably become close friends. The princess has never had close friends before because she does not trust many people. I will also ask Prince Maxon if I can join his guard so we stay close together. That's the only part he told me about, so I hope he doesn't get suspicious." he finished looking at me for approval.

"It sounds good, but how would you like me to get close to the princess?"

"I'm not sure about that yet. I can only think of so much at once." He said joking, making me laugh for the first time in a while. It was a true laugh that I had never really heard. He smiled at me thinking his joke was just that good. Then he started to lean in, and I realized that I was leaning in too. Then we kissed. It was the best feeling in the world. Sparks flew everywhere as we continued to kiss, but then I had to pull away to breathe. I pulled back and looked up into the milky brown eyes that I have always had a small crush on.

I kissed her, and she kissed me back. I have never liked anyone like I have liked Selena.

She looked at me with her sparkly blue eyes, and I just couldn't resist to lean in and kiss her again. It wasn't as good as the first one, but all of the sparks were still there. She pulled back a fee seconds later, and looked down to her lap.

I lifted her chin and asked her the only thing that came to find.

"What's wrong?

She wouldn't look me in the eyes as she responded. "You don't like me, you're just trying to make this situation better."

What does she mean? I would only kiss someone I liked or had a crush on. Wait, she thinks I'm using her.

"Selena, if would never use you. I grew up with you ever since we were little. Why would I use someone who has always been my best friend?"

"I don't know."

"That's because I'm not using you Selena. I like you Selena. How can you not see that now?"

"Jake, I just don't know what to think."

She was second guessing herself and bad. That's when I made the decision to lean in and kiss her a third time. She responded immediately, but I pulled back early to see the reaction on her face.

"Selena, look at what we just did again, and you responded each time. Follow your heart, not your mind. We can make it work."

"Ok Jake. I will try this, but if anything happens, it can't be awkward afterwards."

"You won't have to worry about that." I said smiling at her.

"Now, will you tell me the rest of my past?" she asked looking up at me.

"Are you sure you want to know?"

"Yes."

I sat there after I asked my question, thinking about everything I had agreed to. It's not that I don't like him. I just have never dated someone before and I was beyond nervous.

I hadn't realized I had zoned out, until I saw Jake waving his hand in front of my face.

"Are you ok?" he asked looking at me concerned.

"Yeah, I'm just thinking. Can you start telling me about my past now?"

"Yes, so umm. You know the basis about how you were kidnapped at the age of two. Well, the family that you were taken from was..."

He didn't get to finish his sentence because there was a knock on the door. I silently pointed to the closet; giving him a silent signal to go hide in there while I saw who it was. He quietly got up and closed himself in the closet, while I went and opened the door.

"Oh, Prince Maxon. What a surprise." I said looking a little shocked.

"May I come in?" he asked ever so politely.

"Yes." I said moving out of the way while still holding the door.

"Umm, I was wondering if you would like to go over any last minute plans? Like any questions."

"I don't have any questions. The plan is pretty clear. I was just thinking, before the wedding you can add me to the Princesses top guard and say that you only trust she'll be safe with one of your guards."

"That is actually a really nice plan, and you get close to her at the same time."

"Yep, and if she doesn't believe you then you could add on that you're jealous about other guys watching you sleep and so on."

"That's a perfect plan. We can set that into play when we get to the castle. I would have said no to the first part, but I see you've made it fool proof." he said laughing lightly.

I smiled back, putting on my best fake laugh.

"Well, I guess I'll be on my way to bed. I hope you sleep well Selena, we will be leaving early tomorrow morning."

"Ok, that sounds good. Will Jake come with?"

"No, he will get to go home and watch all of this play out from his own safe location."

"That's too bad. I always have my worst missions when he's not with me. Those have been the few times when I have almost be caught."

"What do you mean? I thought you were the best assassin."

"That's what everyone thinks, but I've never done a good mission without him. Can he just be on your guard? He doesn't have to know the real plan."

"Ok, I'll see if I can get a uniform his size tomorrow morning. Now, good night Selena."

"Good night Prince Maxon." I said walking him out of my room.

I turned back around and walked to the bed to just lay down tiredly.

"Hey, it's not that bad." Jake said coming to lay down next to me on the bed.

"I don't know much about flirting, but I definitely know that was it."

"He did flirt with you a little, but what guy wouldn't? You're a very pretty girl."

I blushed when I heard him say that, turning my head away from him.

"Hey, hey, hey. No need to be embarrassed." he said tilting her head to look him in the eyes.

That just made her blush even more while she saw his smile widen.

"Now, I say it's late and time to go to bed. Mind if I stay here for the night? It's too far of a walk to my room." he said cheekily.

That just made me smile like crazy and not be able to find a coherent word.

"Y-yes, you can stay in here."

"Thanks. I'm going to go in the bathroom and change." he said walking towards the bathroom.

What was he going to change into? He didn't have any clothes in here.

While trying to figure out what he was going to wear, I walked to my suitcase and pulled out some pajamas booty shorts and t shirt to put on. I quickly changed before he came out out if the bathroom. I had just thrown the shirt over my head when I heard the door knob start to twist. I turned around and saw Jake walk out in only his boxers. My cheeks redden instantly because he had the perfect six pack from all of the training. I quickly averted my eyes and climbed into bed under the covers. I felt the other side of the bed dip as he slipped into bed.

I was just about to fall asleep, when he pulled me into his chest.

"Sweet dreams my little assassin." he whispered in my ear right before I fell asleep.
