I laughed as my breath was whipped away by the wind, I ran across a flowery paddock towards a boy about my height with brown hair. His slightly tanned skin shone but when as I reached to pull him into a hug the dream broke
"Reena!" A far away voice yelled, rousing me from sleep, pain hit me suddenly and I screamed at the intensity of it. I knew right then some thing was wrong, I'm hurting myself a lot lately, I thought stupidly as I got up and pain shot through my leg, obviously slammed that. My leg protested as I jumped up to see over the edge of the gully, I saw a quick glimpse of felicity and Emma but screamed again as I landed wrong on my leg and fell on my hip. I heard my pony tail splash into the stream and let the water soak into my short, thick, wavy black hair. Worried faces peered from the edge of the gully above me, "Hi," I said smiling, thinking that it probably looks more like a grimace,
"Can you stand?" Asked felicity, she was clueless to my pain so my smile worked,
"Yep," I replied lightheartedly, getting up. My head pounded at the effort and I was overwhelmed by the recollection of what I was running from.My feet ached from walking by the time we entered the city, I was sick of the awkward and unsure glances jai was giving me, so I resorted to glaring at him and he backed off. No one was talking as we walked past old corpses, the stink was horrible and we pulled into an old office building. I could smell zombies up ahead and signalled to everyone else what I smelt and we continued with caution. We walked into the main room and a zombie stumbled towards us, jai threw the knife and hit it in the throat, I knew it was dead when it's twitching body lay on the carpet bleeding out. Light brown hair flashed between the office desks and I raised my hand in warning, pointing to the spot where the person disappeared. I looked around and saw we were like two storeys up, a fatal drop. A rock flew at us from behind the desk as the stranger attacked, I looked at Emma and felicity holding my gun, asking with my eyes if I should shoot, they nodded, agreeing that if it showed aggression again someone should pull the trigger. I don't want to kill again, I looked at Wilson, handed him the gun and whispered quickly what was happening and he nodded, he knows it's on my command. I looked back to see the stranger, a girl with dirty blonde hair stood before us, holding a potentially deadly rock with the right aim. Her eyes rested coldly over Emma and I looked back at her, she looked stunned,
"Do I know you-" she was cut off as the rock hit her forehead and knocked her unconscious, I flicked my wrist, indicating to Wilson to shoot. The bullet hit her in the head and she fell with a dying scream that was left to gurgle in her throat helplessly. Wilson handed the gun back to me and I ran over to make sure she was dead, she wasn't,
"Devon will get you for this.." She sputtered and died, I watched as her eyes glazed over and her head lolled to the side.Emma was hit badly, her head was bleeding and we weren't sure whether she'd live, I was first watch but also very unsympathetic so when she rolled onto my leg I couldn't resist pushing her back over, her head hit the floor with a bang and a drawn-out groan sounded from down the stairs, near the top I guessed. I roused everybody fit enough to fight as more zoms appeared in silhouettes. We surrounded Emma protectively as Caitlin grabbed her and began to drag her towards the toilets where we could lock ourselves in. As we reached the bathroom door it unlocked with a click and we entered. We could lock the main door but zombies did have enhanced strength so they slammed against it and it was straining to contain them.
