I'm Not Dead Yet...

Chapter 12

Reena's POV:
"Ar-Are you okay?" I stammered at Hannah, she looked at the bite mark like it was yesterday's un-refrigerated lunch,
"Yeah, I was bitten a few months ago," she said, "will you let me stay?"
"Has she shown any signs of infection?" I asked Jason,
"No, she was cleared by the hospital in the city before it was overrun." He answered,
"Alright, so what are you? Immune?" I asked incredulously,
"Yeah, we called it carrying," she said,
"So, you're a carrier?" I said,
"Yep," she answered, I wonder who else is a carrier, or is she an anomaly, a one off?

After that we had decided swimming was off, Hannah was the first to leave as she hadn't been wet. I slipped my dry t-shirt over my head and tied my hair in a quick knot (not a literal 'knot' but yeah, imagine a bun). I walked from behind the foliage that had screened me changing and getting ready to go back while dabbing my face with part of an old t-shirt that served as my towel. Jason had left his shirt off, ohmygod, Jason realised I was staring at him and raised his eyebrows at me as if to say, you done?,the truth was I wasn't done, but I averted my gaze anyway,
"Do you like what you see Reena?" He asked smugly,
"No, I was staring at something behind you." I lied awkwardly,
"Exactly what, were you staring at behind me?" He asked glancing behind him at the blank eucalypts,
"A bird," this lie seemed more believable, I think,
"What kind of bird?" He asked, clearly seeing past my lies, I felt myself blush and my ears burned with embarrassment,
"Ah, a parrot," I said,
"Nice, you know I would probably stare too," he answered,
"You think?" There was no point in lying, he knew,
"Yeah," he advanced towards me, and put his hand on my back, where his hand touched me I tingled, butterflies lauched into flight in my stomach as he pulled me into an embrace and kissed my cheek, just a light brush of his lips against my skin, but I was paralysed.

I hope you all liked that chapter, sorry about so much talking and the really quick relationship spark between them, but I didn't warn to be one of those authors who takes like a million chapters for them just to kiss! Sheesh! Comment if you loved it!
