"Aren't we going to drive her out or something?!" Jason asked incredulously,
"We'll discus it," replied felicity, she, Caitlin and jai were the only ones I cared for, the only ones I truly knew, the only ones I would miss.
"Then let's discuss it now." Jason suggested a little too eagerly for my liking,
"Okay, no point in making her wait." Felicity decided, looking at the others as if asking for their opinion on this, they nodded their approval for not keeping me waiting, and they commenced discussion,
"Reena is near insane!" Jason defended, "She killed Hannah just for kissing me!" To be fair he had a point, but it wasn't just for that, in all her behaviour she was savage, in hunting every animal she caught came back headless, every she killed zombie suffered unnecessary wounds, she showed no compassion toward anyone but Jason, Heather and Angie, she never trusted us, she never would have risked her life, she was a danger, like a disease without a cure,
"No, she saw what you all failed to see," Heather said unexpectedly, "Hannah was merciless. Remember Drake?" She said her voice cracking, her eyes brimming with tears,
"Don't bring him into this!" Jason demanded, obviously knowing he was outmatched. Felicity, jai and Caitlin were chatting quietly at the edge of the group,
"Actually Jason," felicity announced, "we think you should leave." Shock widened his eyes,
"If he's leaving we leave too." Angie warned, looking at Heather who nodded in agreement,
"Your loss." Said jai, speaking up for the first time, while Caitlin remained silent,
"Fine." Jason decided, "I don't think I could stay with you lot anyway." He stomped away with Angie and Heather on either side, collecting their bags on the way out. I watched them leave with unmasked delight. We settled down for the night and slept well, but waking in the morning I had a sick feeling about today, like the feeling you would get before a massive exam at school, or a performance of some kind. The day was clouded and grey, the faint scent of rain was carried by the slightly chilled wind, all the others put their jumpers on, they all looked at me with a mix of disbelief, envy, and mock disgust. We ate and talked about things that had happened before the apocalypse. It was about midday when jai excused himself, we continued talking until a scream echoed through the trees, unmistakably Jai's. We hurtled through the tree towards the fading sound, twigs and leaves slapped our faces and I felt the hot wet feeling of blood slowly rolling down my face from a scratch, finally jai came into view, with Jason holding a knife to his throat. Cold fear settled in my bones, chilling me to the core, what if he kills jai, I thought worriedly, jai was one of the people who were closest to me,
"Hello," Jason greeted us, his voice filled with malice,
"Run! Go!" Jai screamed, desperation clear in his voice,
"Not without you!" I replied,
"Awwwww, how sweet." Jason said chillingly, and he slashed the blade across Jai's neck. Blood flooded from his neck in a scarlet wave, I ran to him as Jason stepped back to let him fall, I knelt next to him and he drew a breath, the air gurgling in his throat horribly, "No, don't leave us," I whispered tearfully, his only reply was a last blood filled breath and he fell silent forever. Jason laughed coldly, obviously satisfied. Looking at Jai's body I wished then we could have a second chance, be together again, but no more would he make me laugh, nor create the illusion that everything was going to be fine. "Are you quite done?" Asked Jason smugly,
"Shut up!" I yelled, he stood calmly as a rage-filled Caitlin launched herself across the dirt, her blade aimed at him. As she was I front of him he stabbed her, in the throat, I screamed as if he had stabbed me, but Caitlin's body fell with a hollow thud, he smiled. "This is my revenge, I would kill you but now you have to live with the loss of these two...friends of yours." The hatred was intense, like a physical object pressing down on me, he walked away, and before he fell out of sight I lifted my arm back and threw my knife, it hit him in the back and he went down with out a noise.Turning to felicity I saw her in a sobbing heap, hunched over Caitlin's lifeless corpse, I walked over to Jai's body and dragged him over there, where we would bury them. Caitlin was a great friend, one of my best, I would miss her a lot, she was our best healer, and felicity and I would probably die without her.
"Hey, where did Bailey go?" I asked her, she looked up with a tear-streaked face,
"I don't know, he wasn't there for your trial." She said worriedly,
"Let's bury these two and go find him?" I suggest, she nods, grief stricken. We get to work on the graves and by the time we were finished it was sunset and we were sweaty and dirty we had covered them over and now all a that remained were piles of upturned dirt. So we left to find bailey, heading first for the old camp.Twilight had settled when we arrived, we hadn't looked around for long before we found him, battered and bruised but alive,
"What happened!" Felicity exclaimed,
"Jason beat me," Bailey puffed back, I looked at him shocked, nearly unable to believe that Jason had beat him bloody, bruises covered his jaw, blood trickled from his nose, and I can't imagine where else he was injured.~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#~#
