"So... uh- how's it going with the Northwest Land." Dipper nervously asked. At the moment he was dancing with Pacifica in front of people. Yes, he's handled crowds before, but that was with Bill. Someone who joked around and eased him with his crazy yet sarcastic attitude.

When Dipper and Mabel reached the field, they were separated and told to head to different areas of the field. Along with Bill and Will, who followed shortly after. Bill was assigned to protect Dipper while Will protected Mabel.

Mabel and Will went to the westward side of the field with Stanford and Ariel, while Dipper and Bill went eastward of the field with Stanley and Alex. Mabel's side held the tournament and games to decide who'd take her hand while Dipper's side held lessons for the required things for the relationship.

"Pretty good." Pacifica held her head high which only made Dipper more uncomfortable since that meant she was staring at him. Plus she had a dead, bored look making her seem scary.

"Well... Do you have any friends around?"

Pacifica's face seemed to sadden but she immediately regained her composure. "Well, no. I don't have anyone but my parents. I've always been busy with lessons."

"Oh..." Once again a silence enveloped them so Dipper tried again. "Well, I have a sister named Mabel. Oh! But you probably already knew that. Hehehe..." Stop being awkward!

Pacifica had a small smile when Mabel was mentioned, "Yeah. It was very brave of what you and the knight did for her."

"I wasn't being brave. I was just being a regular human being."

Pacifica giggled a bit. "You're being modest. Trying to impress me aren't ya?"

At this, Dipper grew nervous when he started protesting against this statement while Pacifica saw it as him being flustered.

"Look. You're- you're cool and all but the only reason I'm hanging out with you is because my Great Uncle Ford is making me." Dipper immediately regretted saying that as he saw Pacifica's smile drop. "I mean- I mean- Uh..." Shoot I missed up! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

"No, it's okay. I don't wanna get married, either." Pacifica let out a laugh at Dipper's surprised but relieved face.

"You don't?!" Pacifica shook her head, still smiling. "Oh, thank goodness!"

Dipper hugged Pacifica and twirled her around, but stopped when he heard the music stopped. Everyone on the dance floor smiled at the scene. Dipper dropped Pacifica which ended up with her on the floor.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, Pacifia!" Dipper helped Pacifica backup but noticed people were still staring and smiling. No, no, no. I ain't marrying her ya little sh-

"Hey, Pinetree!"

Dipper looked over to the edge of the court and saw Bill signaling him to come over. "Oh! Umm... sorry Pacifia but I'm a little tired, mind if I take a break?"

Pacifica was dusting off her dress and looked up to Dipper, "Well actually I was wondering if we could talk about- about you know..."

"Not marrying?" Dipper whispered, hoping nobody was listening.

"Yeah! Look it's not you, it's just that I um... I-"

"You don't need to tell me," Dipper smiled at Pacifica reassuringly, "If it makes you feel better the knight and me are coming up with a plan."

"Really?!"

"Yeah. I don't know much about the details but if I disappear come up with an excuse for me."

"Of course!"

"Thanks, Pacifica!" Dipper hollered after seeing Bill's impatient face and jogging towards him.

Bill stood at the side of the dance floor watching Dipper dancing with Pacifica. He was nervous when this was announced as the first test. The kings were probably hoping the two would bond or something. At first when Bill watched (and cringed) at the two making a conversation, he thought they would never click but after a while they started laughing.

Bill continued to keep an eye on the two as they glided across the dance floor. He noticed Dipper's red face, he shrugged it off thinking he was nervous but couldn't get rid of the feeling that they were actually enjoying each other's company. By the time he saw Dipper pick up and twirl Pacifia he had enough.

When the music stopped he hollered Pinetree over. Now usually he would come immediately to him, especially during an awkward situation. But he took longer than usual because of Pacifica.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this. Plus Dipper explained that he wasn't ready to marry. Unless the kings actually convinced him. Oh no. Oh NO!

While Bill was panicking, Dipper finished his conversation with Pacifica and jogged over to Bill. When he saw Bill's face it seemed emotionless but if you looked closely his eyes showed worry. Dipper waved his hand in front of his face but after no response, he flicked him in the forehead.

"Ow! Pinetree, what was that for?"

"You were spacing out," Dipper hesitated before continuing, "You seemed worried. Are you okay?"

"Huh. Yeah. I'm fine just worried that the plan won't work. Yeah, that's it." Bill smiled at Dipper but he seemed unconvinced.

"You know you can talk to me, right? You're not just another soldier. You're my best friend, brother even!" Inside Dipper was screaming. But I wanna be more. So ask him out on a date. Are you crazy! No. But you're the smartest dummy around. Hold up what?

Just friends. That's all we are. This is for Pine- Dipper not you. Bill's face fell but he quickly readjusted himself. Dipper noticed and wanted to keep going but Bill quickly changed the subject.

"Anyways, onto mission fight for your hand in marriage. I mean- fight for your own hand." Bill quickly explained the plan to Dipper as he dragged him to the field.

Dipper's cheeks were on fire as he glanced at their intertwined hands and Bill's face. What if I told him why I don't wanna get married. Maybe if I come out, he'll come out. How do you even know he's gay? Uh... gaydar? You have a terrible gaydar. How do you know? I've never even used it! Oh hush. Why am I having a conversation with myself? I dunno cause you're lonely. Wow. Never knew I could be so mean to myself. Get used to it.

"-per. -ipper! PINETREE!" Dipper snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the nickname Bill gave him. Would that be considered a pet name. StOp!

"What's up with you? Were you even listening? Wait- do like Pacifica?"

"What! Eww. No."

"Then why are you blushing?" Because we're holding hands. Wait... WE'RE HOLDING HANDS STILL!

"Because... why not." That's it. I'm out. You're screwed.
