Oh-So-Awesome Nerdy

Chapter 12

It's almost a week since that accident happened with Martha. Vince seemed to forget that there was something that he wanted to talk to me about. December is almost up. Yay Christmas! By the second week of December there would be a basketball competition with other Universities. Hopefully our school would win until the finals.

I am here at school, making my way to my room when suddenly a hand patted my shoulder. I turn around to face a hazel brown eyed man. I was lost again for a moment just staring at those beautiful eyes. My senses went back when he spoke. 

"Good morning Sophie" he gave me a sweet smile. I smiled back. 

"Good morning Albert" 

"Uhm, malapit na game namin. Nuod ka ha" oh gosh! He's inviting me. 

"Sure, I really he you guys win" I said. 

"We will, for the school" he said. 

"I have to go. See you around" I said and waved goodbye to him. If I stay longer I might love him. JOKE! The others are already in our room. Vince and Rachel are still unofficial. Ugh!

(Fast forward)

It's the second week of December! Oh gosh, I'm so excited for Christmas. We're on our way to Araneta Coliseum. You know basketball competition. This will be Albert's first time to play in this kind of event since he's just a second year college. But I watched him practice at the gym and he's really good.

The place is full of students. They're all cheering for their respective school. Our school brought the drum squad since our team will be playing today. The opponent did the same. The students are cheering for their favorite players. The announcer introduces both the school and the players. They all ran around the court. We sat at the center of the bleachers for us to have a nice view of the stadium.  

My eyes caught sight of Albert. He threw the ball up the air and it directly went into the ring. What a shot! The coaches instructed their players to go sit at their benches. Albert was looking at the crowd. He must be searching for someone, until his stare landed on our direction. He smiled and waved. I looked at my side and the other and looked at Albert again. He frowned. Rachel elbowed me. 

"Sophie! Kinakawayan ka ni Albert!" she said. I looked at Albert again. I pointed at myself and mouthed 'Me'. He nodded with a smile. I smiled back. I waved and mouthed 'Good luck' he smiled again and said 'Thanks'. 

"Kinikilig ako!" Rachel squealed. Vince rolled his eyes. Karylle nodded while Ethan is busy watching the players.

The announcer introduces the first five players of both schools. Since Albert is a rookie as they call 'em, he's just at the bench watching the game. All the players are positioned to their respective assigned places. The whistle of the referee made a noise to the whole stadium and the ball was tossed up in the air. 

Gonzales, one of our players caught the ball and made his way to their ring. Without hesitation, he threw the ball for a 2 points score. He succeeded. The first and second quarter was on our team's favor. But the other team was on the lead on the third quarter. 

The fourth quarter started and the coach called Albert to get inside the court. He obliged, but still the opponent is on the lead with a score of 67-65. Our players are trying their best to be the lead. But they failed. Until the score got to 82-80, still on the opponents favor. 

By the last 20 seconds of the fourth quarter, the opponent's team captain attempted to shoot but this was blocked by Joshua Ramirez. He then passed the ball to Albert. He was clear. He caught the ball and ran. He stopped at the 3 point line. He looked up, only 5 seconds left. He positioned himself.
