Oh-So-Awesome Nerdy

Chapter 16

Today is Friday. February 10 and the weather sucks. I mean it's supposed to be sunny, right? But hell, it's raining. I mean really heavy rains with strong winds. My school hasn't announced yet if classes will be suspended. Nanay Inday said that there's a super typhoon named 'Anna'. She insisted me not to go to school 'coz it will be very dangerous.  

But still I went to school. Our driver drove me to school. I told him that I'll just text him if ever I'll be needing a ride home. So he went back home. I went to my class and there's no sign of Rachel and Karylle. Moments later, I received a text from Karylle that she and Rachel can't go to school because of the water that started to flood their streets. I didn't reply. Oh well, it's just going to be me then.

The school cut the classes exactly at 2:30 PM. The news said that Manila is on storm signal no. 3. The rain keeps on pouring, non-stop. The road is also flooded. The cars can't pass. I can't go home. I called Vince and told him that I can't go home because of the flood. He's panicking but I told him to calm down and he obeyed. The faculty members told the students to stay in the rooms for us to be warm. 

I joined my other classmate at our Math classroom. It sure is getting cold. Good thing I brought my jacket. I checked the time and it's already 5 PM. I went out of the room and went to the school balcony. I saw the parking lot covered by water. The flood must've made its way inside the campus. Good thing we're staying at the 3rd floor. Gosh! This is scary.  

My eyes caught sight of a silver Chevrolet parked on an elevated part of the parking lot. That's Albert's car. He's here. The thought of him being here in the school made me calm. It made me feel safe again. I went back to our room when suddenly I bumped into someone.

"Ouch! Watch where you're go---- Albert?!" I asked. 

"Sophie! Thank god nakita rin kita!" he said. He's wet, like really drench. He must've walked in the rain. 

"Nagpaulan ka ba?" I asked. He nodded. "bakit ka naman nagpaulan?" I asked again. 

"Hinahanap kita eh" he said. I grabbed his wrist and dragged him to our room. There are only eight people there plus me and Albert so we're ten. "Nagtext kasi si Vince sakin, sabi niya andito ka daw sa school, nastranded at wala kang kasama. Tinanong niya kung andito ako sa school at kung pwede na samahan muna kita. So ayun, hinanap agad kita." He explained. 

"Wait, paano mo nakuha number ni Vince?" I asked. 

"Nung birthday mo, we exchanged numbers just incase na mawala tayo on the road" I nodded and looked at him. Water is still dripping from his hair down to his face. His shirt is also drenched. He starts to cough. I got my scarf from my bag and gave it to him. 

"Punasan mo yang mukha mo, basing basa ka oh. Bat naman kasi nagpaulan ka pa. tsk!" I said. He smiled. That's when the light went off. One of my classmates immediately switches on the emergency light. 

"Nag brown-out. Ok lang ba kayo jan Sophia?" she asked. I nodded. I checked my phone. Ugh, no signal and it's already 7 PM. This sucks. Suddenly two professors came in with a tray of cup noodles. They gave us one each. I said thanks and the professor nodded. 

"Stay put lang kayo ha, magpapadala kami ng mga blankets mamaya" she said and I nodded. 

I felt Albert's body shiver. Oh gosh, he's cold. I sat my food down and I grabbed Albert's. 

"Oh, kain ka na muna Albert habang mainit pa" I said and he obeyed. He finished his food and his shivering somehow stopped. "Hubarin mo na yang shirt mo. Kaya kanilalamig dahil nabasa ka" he removed his shirt and my mouth drop. Oh my! That Abs! He sure has a nice body... Stop it Sophia!

I removed my jacket and gave it to him. 

"Wait,paano ka?" he asked. 

"Don't mind me, I'm not cold anymore. Mas kailangan mo yan" he covered his body with my jacket and leaned down on a chair. I sat closer to him, he looked at me. My eyes locked against his. I really love hose eyes. I just can't stop staring. My stare landed on his lips then back to his eyes again. 

"Here are your blankets" the professor came back with two blankets. I looked away from Albert's stare. I can feel the heat on my cheeks. I wrap Albert with one blanket and the other for me. I checked again the time and it's just 8 PM. Ugh! 

Albert leaned down on my shoulder. That's when I realize, he's hot. I placed my cold palm on his forehead and he's really hot. He has a fever. 

"Albert, may lagnat ka" I said with a voice of panic. He looked at me with his heavy eyelids. "Stay here" I told him and stood up. I grab my handkerchief and went to the faculty office. I went to get a hot water and they gave me some. I poured the hot water into my handkerchief and went back to the room. I immediately place the warm thing on Albert's forehead.

I let him lean on my shoulder. He's shivering again. I fixed his blanket to make sure his whole body is warm. Moments later and he stopped shivering. I think he's asleep. 

I just there not making any move so he wont wake up. I didn't know what came into me, but I slid my fingers into his. He made a small movement. He slightly opened his eyes then closed it again. He grabbed my hand. He intertwined it with his and squeezed it tightly. I felt the heat on my cheeks again. Good thing it's dark, no one can see my blush. I felt butterflies again.

I played with his hair and started to hum the song 'A Thousand Years'. I know I suck in singing but I can still hum a song. I just stayed awake the whole night. I felt Albert's grip on our intertwined fingers loosen. I frowned. 

I think my feelings for Albert changed. I don't like him anymore. I love him. I fell for him. A tear escaped my eye. I fell for Albert. But what if he didn't feel the same for me? I don't want a one-sided love story. I sigh and he moved again, gripping his hold on our hands tightly again. I smiled. I love it that way. It feels like he doesn't want me to go away.

I checked the time and it's already 4 AM. The rain seems to stop. Albert slowly sat up. I smiled at him. He's awake. I touched his forehead again. He still has a fever. His eyes landed on our intertwined hands and back to stare at me again. He smiled. I smiled back. 

"Feeling better?" I asked. He shook his head. 

"Masakit parin ulo ko" he said. I nodded and let go of our hands. He frowned. 

"Titingnan ko lang kung wala ng baha at ulan" I went out of the room and went to the balcony. There's no flood on the road anymore, only puddles of water were left. I went back to our room and grabbed Albert's wrist. 

"San tayo pupunta?" he asked. 

"Sa condo mo, kelangan mo magpahinga" I said. 

"I can't drive" he said. I smiled. 

"Then I'll drive" I helped him get up and we made our way to the parking lot. I grabbed his car keys and put it on the ignition.

Minutes later and we're at his place. I helped him to his room. I went to his closet and grabbed a shirt and pajamas. I tossed him his dress. 

"Uh, magpalit ka muna" he nodded and I went out of his room. I went to the kitchen and made a hot chocolate drink for Albert. I went back to his room and he's already on his shirt and PJ's. I sat the hot chocolate down on a table near his bed and went to grab a small towel and went to the bathroom. I poured a combination of hot water and cold water on the towel and went back to Albert's room. He's unit sure is warm. I sat next to him and placed the towel on his forehead again, I helped him sat up so he can take a sip of the hot chocolate. I grabbed a medicine on his med kit and went to the kitchen to get him a glass of water. I came back to his room and I let him take his medicine, 

"Thanks Sophie" he said and he lied back down on his bed. I smiled. 

"No problem" I placed the water next to the hot chocolate. I was about to stand up when he grabbed my wrist and dragged me down on his bed. I'm now lying on top of him. I looked at him. Ugh, those eyes. He grabbed a hair that's covering my face and slid it to the back of my ear. I blushed. He smiled. 

"You're blushing" he teased. I glared at him. 

"Albert" I said with a warning tone. He chuckled making my body move along with his body. 

"Sorry, just stay here next to me. Please don't go" he said. I nodded. I scooted next to him. He grabbed my hand and intertwined it again to his. I smiled and closed my eyes. I love being this close to Albert. I'm in love with him. I love Albert and that's final!
