Waking up this morning, I went through my daily routine like I usually do, I was glad to have gotten all of my assignments done and had a day off from school.

I planned on just living back and relaxing for the whole day, maybe I'd go and hang out with Phoenix if she wasn't too busy

After I had gotten dressed and eaten breakfast, I heard Dad come in as he talked with two other dectectives, he looked really stressed out as if something had just happened

Oh no

What if he found out about Chris?

There was only one way to know for sure

So I walked over to Dad, pretending that I had just now noticed him

"D-Dad?"

He noticed me and asked the other detectives to wait outside, I felt really nervous in this moment

"Sorry for waking you, sweetheart" He said

That.....was not what I was expecting

"What's going on, Dad?"

"We almost had those damn Midnight Racers, my CI lead me to a deal that they were in the middle of but they managed to escape"

Dad had been telling me about the case and I tried my very best to avoid being surprised at the fact that he was in charge of bringing down the Midnight Racers, I knew he had a major case that he was working but I didn't think it would be investigating the Midnight Racers.

This meant that Chris was in even more danger

"Do you know who they are?" I was scared to hear what the answer would be

Dad shook his head
"No, unfortunately, I saw their faces for a brief moment but I doubt that I'd be able to ID them again"

I discreetly breathed a sigh of relief

Dad didn't see Chris, so he was safe for now, If Dad had really find out then I'd think that Dad would be a little more upset and straight out questioned me about it

"Look, I have to get back to the precinct sweetie, I came back to check up on you and Chris. Where is your brother, anyway?"

"Oh well, um, I guess Chris was out late last night, I-I haven't really heard from him"

I was a terrible liar but I hoped that Dad would buy it and fortunately he did as he left and said goodbye to me

Once I knew that Dad was out of the driveway and left, I immediately took off
and headed to the garage but oh course since I didn't have a driver's license or a car, I had no choice but to take the city bus, there was no time to call Phoenix and explain

It took over 8 minutes for me get off a stop close to the garage

Chris had given me the passcode to the entrance in case I ever needed to come here by myself

I put the combination in and the door unlocked, I quickly stepped inside the garage, It was really quiet here today and I didn't notice or hear anyone around

"Hello?" I called out, hoping to find someone here or more specifically, Chris

I hadn't heard from him all day and I was really worried, especially after finding out tha Dad nearly caught him last night
