Chapter 9: My sister

It had been a couple of hours since I talked to Akira and I actually enjoyed talking to him as crazy as it sounded, I misjudged him if I'm being honest here .

Although his attitude and personality as first didn't exactly help, he came off as an asshole that seemed to only care about himself and believed that it was okay to cheat but I guess once I got to know him better

When Ryder and the crew came back, Akira immediately started questioning the crew about the deal which annoyed Ryder.

But then Ryder noticed me and Akira talking again, it looked like he had a look of jealousy in his eyes

Why would Ryder even be jealous?

It's not like we were dating, we barely knew each other and I'm only here because Chris is my favorite, I highly doubt that I would ever be caught up in all this if I wasn't related to Chris

But then again, Akira and Ryder had no love lost for each other

Ryder later pulled me aside and asked why I was being so friendly to Akira, I explained things to him and he had a hard time believing everything I was telling him, that Akira was capable of being a nice person and didn't act like such as asshole all the time

Ryder had told me to be careful around Akira but I assured him that I could take care of myself

Ryder had nothing to worry about, sure I hardly knew Akira that well but I'm certainly not careless, of course I'll be weary of Akira.

Just like Ryder, I barely knew him as well, we'd only started getting to know each other earlier when he told about why he was so hellbent on becoming a Midnight Racer

And I think that this goes both ways as well, the crew probably didn't trust me besides just Ryder and Chris, I think that Akira, Mia and Tyson were still skeptical and had their doubts about me

People like them were always on their guard, not letting down to trust anyone, it's probably how they haven't gotten caught yet

Especially by my Dad

I'm pretty sure that Dad has his eye on the crew, or rather he's trying to figure out who they are, I remembered briefly glancing at one of Dad's case files a while back and I spotted a question mark by the crew's name

So for now at least, the Midnight Racers' identities weren't known to my Dad although I have no idea how that's even possible

A lot of people that attend the crew's street races have seen everyone's faces which include Ryder, Akira and Chris so I guess I find it a little weird that my Dad didn't manage to identify any of them yet

And if he ever knew about Chris....it would devastate him

But the question in my mind stands

Would he arrest Chris anyway or would he look the other way because it was his son

The deal had went surprisingly well, I was actually half expecting for it to end in a shoot out

.....yeah that's how badly most of our deals could go

Although I was surprised at Tyson deciding that Akira needed to stay behind, it was an understatement to say that Akira was cause it looked like he was about to explode when Tyson told him to stay put
