I still can't believe it
Chris was gonna teach me to drive!
I could barely contain my excitement, for so long I just wanted Dad to allow me to learn how to drive
It didn't have to be for getting a driver's license, just learning the basics of driving a car but Dad always refused and told me no everytime. He didn't even allow Chris to teach me either, I guess Chris had enough of it so he's gonna give me driving lessons whether Dad likes it or not.
I couldn't wait to get started today
Chris was gonna drive us to a spot where I could practice, I was getting ready to go as my brother was waiting for me downstairs
Once I was ready, me and Chris were in the car, driving to our spot
"You nervous?" Chris asked
"A little, I mean I've never even sat in the driver's seat"
Chris chucked
"Don't worry, I was pretty nervous when I first drove too"
"It must've been hard without Dad teaching you"
"It definitely was, I had to learn everything by myself, from learning how to use the clutch to learning about the rules on the road, I actually failed the test twice before I passed it"
"Wow, really?" I stifled a laugh
"Yeah, it's definitely a lot harder than you think" Chris smiled
"So how'd you pass the 3rd time?"
"Enrolled into an 8 hour learner's course, they basically teach you everything you need to know about driving and I guess being in that room for 8 hours with all that information drilled in my head helped me out"
"Do you think I should take that course?" I asked
"Honestly yeah, it's 8 long hours but it'll be worth it, helped me after all"
"But wouldn't I still have to pass a driving session with a driving instructor at the DMV?"
Chris nodded
"Yep, a driving instructor comes to take you on a driving session, they test your driving skills and depending on how good you do and if you impress them, they'll give you some information to give to the DMV then you'll just go through a few things like answering some questions and taking an eye exam, they'll give you a temporary driver's license and mail your actual license a few days after"
Wow, this was a lot to remember but I know that I needed to in order to pass and get my license
Taking the 8 hour course was probably my best bet
"Does the 8 hour course have a fee?"
Chris nodded
"Yeah it's a $20 dollar fee buy don't worry, I'll pay for it"
"But what happens if you don't pass the test for the 8 hour course?"
"Well from what I was told and if I can remember, you'd have to wait about 6 months in order to retake the course and you also have to pay the fee again"
"Yikes, well I guess I have even more reason to pass it now"
"Don't worry, I know you will" Chris assured
I smiled back, mom's death hit all of us hard in a way and we all grieved our Ken way but I was glad Chris's other life and the crew brought us closer as crazy it sounds
