CHAPTER SEVENTEEN | ELEVATOR TALK Giorgio's P.O.V.
"I have to say, I am surprised that you allow them to run this article still," Isabell said in an amusing tone as she handed me the open magazine.
"Would you be able to find out who took those photos," I stare at the magazine article, "I want to know who took them, they must have been someone who has been following him for some time."
"I can dig around to see what I find," Isabella glance at me, smiling as she switches the subject, "so, he was the reason you canceled lunch?"
"It is just business," I quickly told her, knowing where she was going with this, "There are no emotions involved with him and me."
"Yet, you haven't stopped smiling since yesterday," Isabella moves to stand in front of me, "there must be something about him that makes you smile like that."
"I will admit that he is interesting but," I slowly move her out of my way "but I'm not ga-"
"Don't put a label on it," she quickly says before I could finish, "besides I don't have a problem with it. If you like someone, their gender shouldn't get in the way."
"Don't get all sentimental on me," I warn her, hoping she won't get all emotional on me.
Since I told Isabella about my plan, she has been trying to get me to pursue something more with this guy. Sometimes it feels like she is making it her mission to make it come true.
"I don't see the crime in really getting to know him," she went on to say, "you waste your time on far worse, or is it that you scare?"
"What are you trying to say," I couldn't help but look over at her "I'm not scared of anything."
"I don't know about that," she gave me a careless shrug before continuing, "I think you are scared that you might fall for him. After all, you did tell me he is the most compilable with you."
"I see what you are trying to do," I said with a smirk, "it's not going to work."
"How about a friendly wager," she went on to suggest, "between to good friends."
"What don't you have that I would want," I let out a faint laugh, "this wager have nothing for me to gain."
"It's not what I have, but what I know," I looked at her to see a devilish smirk playing at her lips, "You wouldn't want me to him the truth about you and your intentions, do you?"
"You wouldn't."
"Are you willing to risk that chance?" She went on to say as she fixes her hair, "besides all you have to lose is his family connections in Asia."
"I could lie," I told her.
"I know you since your school days," she said with a faint chuckle, "I am one of the very few people who knows when you are lying."
"What would I have to do exactly," I curiously asked.
"Take the time to get to know him," she sounded sterner than before as she looks over at me, "if you are willing to marry him just for business, I don't see the harm in seeing where it could lead."
"You are serious about this," I could feel my eyebrow slowly raising, "you want me to get to know him?"
She slowly nods with the huge smile across her face.
"And if we don't work?"
"Then find someone else," she crossed her arms as she looks forward, "if you can't win his heart, why should you gain anything from him or his family?"
"I hate when you do this," I couldn't help but let out a stressful sigh, "but I agree to your little wager."
"I knew you would see it my way," I watch as she got off the elevator, "don't forget that the gala is tonight, he will be there."
I could feel a small smile form on my lips as the elevator doors close.
