CAROLINE'S POV
There are no longer signs that winter was once here, all the snow had melted and the temperatures had risen a fair amount. It was mid March and I was walking into the Nashville airport with my suitcase rolling behind me. I was wearing sweatpants that fit me just a few months ago, but were a little too short now because of how much I've grown. Oh well, it was the perfect outfit for a 14 hour flight.
I walked in a group with Taylor, her mom, her security, her publicist, and her tour manager through the almost empty airport. It was about 3 in the morning and everybody was tired, everybody but me. I had a nearly sleepless night, I had thought that it was a miracle that I had fallen asleep at 8, but that miracle had me awake again at midnight. So I'd been up long enough to be wide awake.
We boarded Taylor's jet soon enough, on our way to Tokyo, for the first part of her new tour. I sat down at a window seat and Taylor sat beside me. I looked down at the city as we took off into the air and I watched it as it got smaller and smaller. When I couldn't see it anymore I turned back around in my seat and Taylor was already asleep.
I knew I should sleep, but I also knew that the chances of that actually happening are slim. My whole sleeping thing had become a huge problem in the last month or so, I'd be going to school on 3 or 4 hours of sleep a lot of nights. I would try as hard as I could to relax enough to sleep, to clear my mind so I could drift off. The thing with that was if you're thinking about clearing your mind, your mind isn't really clear.
So in short, none of my efforts ever worked, except for my effort to keep this from Taylor. Yeah there were times when I'm sure she knew that I was tired or that I got to bed late, but I didn't think she knew about all the anxiety and everything keeping me awake.
After only half an hour of the flight I was the only one awake. I decided to be productive with my time, so I carefully stepped over Taylor and went into another seat to work on my homework. I was going to be missing a lot of school, so instead of being really behind when I got back I was doing my work while I was traveling with Taylor. I wanted to get it done sooner, rather than later, that way I wasn't worrying about it at the last minute.
I soon went into extreme focus mode. I had already gotten lots of work done, and at the rate I was going nothing was going to break my concentration from my schoolwork. I didn't really know how long I had been working for, all I knew was that it was light outside.
"Caroline." I heard Taylor groan from the row in front of me. I finally looked up and got up to sit by her again.
"What?" I asked once I got back in my seat. Taylor's eyes were half closed and her eyebrows were pushed together in the middle, making her forehead have folds.
"What's wrong babe?" She asked, starting to hug me.
"Huh?" I asked, I didn't think anything was wrong.
"Why were you crying?" She asked me.
"...I wasn't crying.." I said, not knowing what she was talking about. She blinked a few times and opened her eyes fully.
"What?" She asked, looking at me like she was just confused as I was.
"I wasn't crying." I told her.
"I could've sworn you were just sitting here bawling." She said.
"Was that a dream? Oh my god, I think that was a dream." She said to herself and I started to laugh.
"Don't laugh, it was so real, you were so so upset and you just cried and cried and cried and for some reason I was worried about the mascara that you were wearing." She said, looking into the distance like she was remembering now. I she looked back over at me, laughed, and pulled me into a hug.
