You loved your job at the flower shop down the road. Not a lot of interesting things happened there, except some people asking about flower meanings.

So before you could start, your bosses had you memorize meanings and impress them.

There was one specific day that a guy around your age came in looking pissed off.

He made his way quickly to the cash register, where you were waiting confused, and slapped 20 dollars on the counter.

"How do I passive-aggressively say fuck you in flowers?"

You were taken aback by his aggressiveness but assumed that it was for good reason.

"Oh uh, you'll need a bouquet of geraniums for stupidity, foxgloves for insincerity, meadowsweet for uselessness, yellow carnations for you have disappointed me, and orange lilies for hatred."

He stared at you dumbfounded and slightly concerned why you had known that so fast.

"Okay, stop looking at me like that. My ex sent me these before breaking up with me, and it is my job to be able to answer your questions."

You started to put the bouquet together for him and rang up the total.

"Thirteen dollars is the total and that out of twenty. Your change is seven dollars."

As you handed him the bouquet, he introduced himself as Finn. Ever since that day, he had been coming in once a week.

Every time he asked for something different. Sometimes an aster for patience and other times birds of paradise for joyfulness.

Around the second month, he had asked for your phone number, which you gladly gave him. You texted all of the time, but nothing could replace the feeling he gave you when he was with you.

A lot of the time when he came in he would stay for a while talking with you until another customer came in.

You asked him what all of the flowers were for and he told you that you'd see soon enough. After several months of this, he came in one day with a book in his hands.

"This is for you," is all that Finn said and then left.

Inside the book were pressed flowers that he had bought from you. In the beginning, he had a message that said, 'my feelings for you overtime'.

It started with a heather flower, showing admiration and slowly transformed the feelings into a tulip, meaning a declaration of love.

You had gasped when you saw the brightly colored flower as you didn't recall selling it.

You looked up to see your boss looking at you with a soft smile.

"The boy came into the store last week when you weren't working and asked for a tulip. He's outside right now, so go take your break and see him."

You thanked him and ran outside glancing all around, hoping to find him soon. Once you saw him, you ran up, wrapping your arms around his middle.

"I loved the tulip."

He looked down at you with a wide smile and hugged you back even tighter.

Your relationship only bloomed from there.
