Photography is the only thing that calms you. Watching the world through the lens of the camera seemed simpler. Hearing the clicks of the camera. Seeing you've captured the moment perfectly.
Well, that's what you thought, until every moment with him was already perfect. His loudmouth, cheeky remarks, and facial expressions got you to fall for him. He messed around with everyone that he met and made them feel at home.
You loved that about him. You never felt out of place around Richie, he always made it his top priority to include everyone. Sure the people he was closest to got included by being made fun of, but what could you do, that was Richie.
Then just like that, it wasn't perfect anymore. Every day you got together smiling, laughing, you falling in love. Until you saw him do it all with her. The second you introduced him to her, you knew it was a mistake.
He took in every single one of her features and ran them through his head when she wasn't around.
You did the same thing to him that you almost had the exact spot each freckle was memorised. He had freckles covering his nose that looked adorable when he scrunched it laughing. His mouth twitched up into a mini smirk before he made a sex joke.
He perked up at the sound of her name. If someone mentioned Richie Tozier then you were pulled into the conversation by habit. He surrounded your mind and you couldn't get enough of him.
His eyes shined when they landed right on her face out of the dozens of others that were around. You always showed up to parties after he had already arrived. You seemed to be able to find him in the crowd in an instant, usually getting drinks at the kitchen counter for the two of you.
Everything he did was the exact way you hoped he would do with you eventually.
The next time you saw him, she was his girlfriend and you faked a happy reaction of "Wow! That's great guys, I'm happy for you. I'm late for meeting up with Bill, so I'll see you later!"
You turned around and ran. You ran home to your bed and sobbed for hours. He won't even know, too wrapped up in the honeymoon stage of the relationship. He won't notice that Bill was standing off to the side of the pair.
Cause he didn't know the pain of watching the one you love, your best friend, fall in love with someone else while you're right there.
