Soulmate AU wherein a world where your soulmate first touches you is a tattoo of either something that brought you two together or is an important part of them ________________________
You were laying on your bed staring at the ceiling while telling your friend about these two cute guys that had caught your eye. You recalled that you had met Jaeden on the set of "Knives Out" while you were the amateur photographer and he wanted to take you out during his free time. Whereas you had just ran into Mark, and he claimed that he was your soulmate.
You were tracing your soulmate mark on your left wrist and listening to your friend tell you what she had already told you before.
"Oh my god, Y/n, just get over it already and ask one of them out." Your friend's voice made its way through your phone.
"But what if neither of them is my soulmate. You know it's happened before. They say we're soulmates, but they let me decide whether we date or not and then they dump me when they actually find the one." You complained back.
You thought back to the countless times a guy had played you and touched your left wrist then explained you were soulmates just to mess with you.
You had a small knife tattooed on your left wrist that had to do with an important part of them or what brought you two together. Even though none of the guys could explain what it meant, you still fell for it.
"So you go on a date with both of them. One right before the other, so the interaction is clear in your head."
"Oh, that's a good idea. Thanks!"
You talked with her for a little while longer until you had to go and shower before it turned three am. As the water was heating up, you texted Jaeden and Mark about having a date this weekend. You set the date for Mark at noon, and Jaeden's was at two.
The next morning you woke up feeling better about your decision to go out with both of them when you got a text from Jaeden saying, "can't wait 🙂"
You paced around your room for a minute, thinking of what you were going to wear to the short park date. You finally chose something that was comfy to wear and was flattering enough to be worn on a date.
You left your house and walked down the street towards the park that Mark wanted to meet at. When you got there, he was seated on a bench anxiously looking around.
After you had greeted him, he jumped straight into talking about what he did for a job, where he hung out and where he was from. Mark didn't let you talk for one second. You watched closely at how he carried himself and how uncomfortable he seemed.
He never met your eyes, but you just brushed that off as him being nervous. When he mentioned that he was trying to get into the acting business, you immediately tensed up. He knew that you were a photographer for film sets and you realised that he wanted your help to land auditions.
Before he could continue, you had to cut him off, "I'm sorry Mark, but I don't have any pull at the studios."
You knew that this was a lie as the director loved you, and would at least consider someone you recommended but you didn't want him to use you.
"Well, then that's all I have to say. See you later." Mark stood up from the bench and walked away.
You sat there in disbelief and tried to process what had happened.
You made your way to the coffee shop that Jaeden was going to meet you at. The whole way there the awful date played back in your head.
You knew that he was lying about being your soulmate and hoped that seeing a familiar face next would cheer you up.
You ordered a drink and waited at a table for Jaeden to arrive. You sat there for a while and wondered if he was actually going to come or if he had just stood you up.
After waiting for twenty minutes, you got up and started to make your way to the exit. Just as you were about to leave, Jaeden stumbled in the door.
"I'm so sorry I'm late," He immediately apologised to you.
"You're okay." You showed him back to the table that you were sitting at before.
"The scene we shot today ran over." He explained as he sat down.
"That's alright. I understand that you can't stop until they get it perfect."
Once you both got settled and felt more comfortable around each other, the conversation began to flow naturally. You couldn't believe how much you were smiling, laughing, and how much you didn't want it to end.
You shared stories from your childhood, especially the embarrassing ones. He was sweet and teased you lightly about the moments later on, but at the same time, he empathised.
You watched how his smile grew as he talked about his family and the little hand gestures he did to add emphasis to what he was talking about.
You noticed the way he made you feel. You noticed that the whole time the conversation was balanced, that he was just as interested in your life as you were in his. It came to be four, and your friend was blowing up your phone.
You had ignored the first couple of texts that came through, too focused on the boy in front of you. As they became more consistent though, he urged you to at least look at it to make sure that it wasn't an emergency.
You got caught up in the lovely date that you hadn't realised your friend was texting you asking to save her from a bad date. You quickly apologised and told him about the situation. After repeatedly making sure that he knew it wasn't a ruse to get you out of this date, you stood up and made your way to the door.
Before you could open the door, Jaeden softly caught your left wrist, "Wait, will I get to take you out again?"
You looked at where his hand was placed and smiled to yourself, "Yeah, I think you might."
You gave him a quick hug and started on your way to the diner where your friend was. The whole way there you stared at the knife soulmate mark, on your left wrist and it all made sense.
Your whole life your parents worried that you would fall in love with a murderer but oh how wrong they were. You fell in love with an actor and a film that started it all.
