"Rosie, have you seen my black ankle boots?" Grey asks when she enters our room again. It is Friday night and we are getting ready for the party. Grey has been walking around the dorm room for the last hour searching all the parts of her outfit. She is wearing a pink skirt with a black shirt. Because we are nearing wintertime, she also combined it with tights who are lightly decorated with flowers.
I was looking at my shoes in the bottom of the closet. I turn to her "Under your bed probably". She looks under her bed and pulls out her boots. She lifts them up in victory.
"What shoes are you wearing?" I am wearing black skinny jeans with a white loose shirt. I'll later put on my jean jacket with multi-colored flower embroidery all over the right side.
"I don't really know maybe my New Balance" I was looking for my second shoe.
"Oh no. You are not wearing sneakers. It's a party Rose get your heals" I just sigh and throw my one shot behind me and start looking for my heels "The black one or the emerald green ones?" I hold up my two pairs of heels. It is a simple heel with an open toe and a strap around the ankle.
"The green" I nod. I put them on, and I try to stand up. Note to myself, next time, stand up, and then put on your heels, especially if you never wear them and walking in them is already a full-time job.
Grey and I settle down in the living room. Leo is picking us up tonight. After the fight, he apologized the next day and offered to drive us to the party. I was okay with it, there has been enough drama in the last few days. We just decided to leave it behind us and figure out where to go from here.
I throw my head back and close my eyes "Remind me again why are we going to this party?".
She chuckles "Because you asked me, and I said yes".
"Oh yeah" I turn my head to look at her with one eye open "Why did you say yes?".
She looks straight back at me "Because you need to figure your shit out".
I shrug "So, you've mentioned before, still waiting for an explanation about what my shit is exactly".
She crosses her legs and turns her body to me "Like you don't know". I turn to sit in the same position as she is. I just look at her sheepishly "Okay I'm going to be honest with you about what I think because that is what we do. You're not in love with Leo".
"Well no, that is going to take some more time"
My best friend shakes her head "That is not what I mean. You don't love him now and you probably won't love him ever. Yes, there is a good friendship but I'm starting to think that there was never supposed to be more than that. You need to figure out where you are going with him before hurting him and yourself even more." I open my mouth, but she cuts me off "I'm not done, in the meantime you hang out with Sam half of the week, you guys text" surprise forming on my features. She rolls her eyes "Oh please I know your password. The two of you have a lot in common and honestly if he wouldn't have been such an ass in the past I would, without doubt, encourage you to switch boys. But the situation is tricky because first, we are all friends, second, you won't get out of this situation without hurting anybody and third, once you decide a lot of things are going to implode".
I look at anything and everything around me just to not look at Grey "What if I chose nobody".
"Then you will have to be damn sure about it and realize that ending things means totally ending everything".
"I'm happy that I'm going home in two weeks" in a little less than two weeks I'm going to France for the Christmas holidays. It will be good to have a break from this environment and from everything that is happening here. I will spend some time with my family and hopefully when I'll come back, I will have figured things out.
