Friday comes around the corner, Grey and I are putting all our bags in the car. Our girl trip is taking us to Canada. We've both never been there, and Sam advised us to go because it was, and I quote 'stunning, beautiful and something you have to see in your life'. After a lot of research, we decided to go to a little place situated between Ottawa and Montreal. We rented a small little cabin there for the weekend.

I put a very heavy bag of books in the car. We packed way too much stuff for just three days and nights. We took clothes for seven days even though we are probably going to go shopping there. We have at least fifteen books with us because you never know what you want to read, and in which mood you are going to be.

It is 8:30 a.m. and we planned on leaving at nine o'clock, so we are a bit ahead of schedule. Knowing us we will probably leave right on time though because we are both frantic planners and packers. We check everything a hundred times. If we packed enough food, enough clothes, enough books if we closed the door, took the backup car key, phone charger and all the other possible stuff you can forget.

It will take us around six hours to get to our destination. We packet candy, chips, and drinks. We made a playlist with all our favorite songs to jam out to in the car. All to make sure this isn't going to be a boring ride. Through the years we made numerous trips together. First just family holidays with our parents and Grey's siblings. When both of us got our driver's license. Well, Grey first because in Europe you can only get it when you are 18. We always went away a few days on our own during family gatherings. We'd just do our own thing and eventually re-join the rest of the group.

"Grey? Did you check the door?" I ask as I see my best friends walk out of the building.

"I did" she lifts a phone charger, probably mine. I laugh "Did you put in all the bags?".

"I did," I say as I close the trunk "Then let's go".

We both step into the car.

Three hours and a lot of Little Mix, Taylor Swift, backstreet boys, and Lana Del Rey songs later we decided to stop for a lunch break. There were fewer people on the road than we expected so things were going smoothly. After a thirty-minute break, we take the road again. Grey drove the first three hours, so I decided to take the wheel and let her in charge of the music and navigation.

After three and a half hours and a few wrong turns later, now I'm not going to blame anyone for the fault in navigation, but one thing is sure, it wasn't my fault. But after a lot of driving around, we finally arrive. We pass a big open gate. The gate is made from wood, plants growing all over it. I think that even if we try there would be no way of closing this gate, nature played, and nature won.

After such a big gate you would expect an enormous mansion but what we find at the end of the road is even more beautiful. A light wooden cabin appears. The cabin is the perfect size for two people. There is a fire pit in front of the house, and we see a glimpse of the lake behind it. Everything screams wood and coziness. I instantly fall in love with the place.

I park the car next to the cabin and we decide to explore before unpacking. We already went to get the key earlier, so we are free to do whatever we want.

Inside, almost everything is made of wood. The ground floor is one big open floor with a kitchen, a small dining table for four people and a small living room space. The whole back wall is made of glass so there is a lot of light coming in and it shows a beautiful view of the lake. Everywhere you look there are candles, cute decorations, and cushions. Both of our eyes fall on the fireplace. We both know that that thing is going on tonight and that we will be sitting in front of it eating snacks and gossiping about anything and everything.
