It's been one year since S.H.I.E.L.D took me in. Nick and Phil have been like family to me. I've met more agents of which I've become friends with. I've learned to control and use my powers quite nicely. Natasha has taught me how to use some guns and Clint has taught me how to shoot some arrows. All this, of course, is when they're not in a mission so it's very rare. I've been outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. base 5 times but they were just little trips. I'm not an agent or anything, it's just that S.H.I.E.L.D. has become my home, and it's agents my family.
"Sky, I need you to follow me please," I heard Phil say as he open my bedroom door.
"Argh, why? Can't you see I'm too lazy to get up?" I smiled.
"Sorry Sky but, right now is not a good time to joke around," he said with a dead serious face. "Something is going on and Fury wants to see you."
"Alright, I'm on my way," I said as I got up.
"Thanks," Phil said as I pass him by the door.
Why would he want to see me? What is going on? Is everything alright? These were only some of the many questions I kept asking myself as I made my way to Nick's office.
"Hello Sky," Nick greeted me with a hug.
"Hey Nick, what's up?" I asked, returning the hug.
He broke the hug but his hand stayed on my shoulder, "I need a favor, that's what's up." He sighed and sat back down.
"What am I a used of?" I asked dumbfounded.
"How's it going for you in handling your powers?" He asked, looking through what seemed to be files.
"It's ok, I can easily control them and they become of great use," I answered.
"That's good," he said as he got up to hand me some files. "Sky these are they files of four people we have kept our eye on for the past few years. They're Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, and Thor Odinson," he said while flipping through the files. He went back to his desk and grabbed another file. He came back to me and said, "Now this is a file of the Tesseract, a cube that contains a massive power that can destroy a world as it can save it."
"Ok, now what does this have to do with me?" I asked still confused.
"The tesseract has been stolen from us by Loki," There was something about that name, I think I've heard it before, but where? "He is the brother of Thor, and he wants to open up a portal that with let an army into Earth so he can take over it and rule us. The files I showed you first are the files of a group of people that we've put into this group called The Avengers. I have called you here to ask you to join them and help save the Earth." he explained.
The question caught me off guard. I didn't understand why he'd want to have me help? Oh yeah I forgot, my powers.
"Will I be able to go outside this base?" I asked.
He chuckled, "yes, yes you will."
"Then sign me up," I said with a smile as I closed the files and handed them to Nick.
"Alright then, go to your room and pick up some clothes, then meet me at the exit of the base," he told me.
I ran to my room and grabbed all my jeans and two pants, all my lose shirts, and my two hoodies. I packed them in my backpack. I grabbed two pairs of black Converse and one pair of old Jordans. I still had some space so I threw in my book Looking for Alaska, which I've read a million times. I decided I was all packed and ready so I went to meet Nick where he told me he would be.
