(Mary Jane sat alone in her apartment)
(She hadn't been getting out much lately, the experiences of the last few years had taken a toll on her and she was struggling to find her way forward)
(She had reached her peak level of success when she got the lead roles as both actress and singer in a couple of high profile productions way back when, she had also been happy in her personal life for a while as well but...when the events leading up to Harry's death occurred..that was when she hit an all time low)
(What was worse was how she'd handled her romantic relationships, each time she managed to mess each one up worse than the last, and she certainly regretted flip flopping between guys as frequently as she did..)
(Despite this she had believed for a long time that Peter Parker was the right man for her..and yet too many things had happened that made her question herself for feeling that way)
(Her and Peter had been pulled apart far too many times for completely dumb reasons most of the time)
(MJ deeply regretted the way things turned out and she knew eventually she still wanted to make things work with Peter, because despite everything she still wanted him in her life..she just couldn't bear for things to get too complicated as they had in the past)
(MJ was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard a knock on the door, she went to answer it and was most surprised to see John Jameson standing there)
MJ: "John..? What..what are you doing here?"
John: "I had to see you. I need to know something before I..before I do something I'll probably regret."
MJ: "Look John..I'm so so sorry about what happened. I shouldn't have let things get so far out of hand. You deserved so much better than me."
John: "It's funny you say that because I feel the same way. Only I'm the one who's not good enough for you, MJ. You were the best thing about my life but I ruined it."
MJ: "You..you think you ruined it? John..it was all my fault. I left you standing at the alter to be with another man.."
John: "Yeah. About that man..are you two still together?"
MJ: "Not..really...no. It's complicated but we're still working through things. But um..John what did you come here to tell me?"
John: "I came here to say that I know I can be the right guy for you, Mary Jane. I'm gonna be. You'll see."
MJ: "No John..I'm..I'm really not looking for another relationship right now. I'm sorry. I hope you can understand.."
John: "Sure..sure I understand. I understand that as long as Parker is still out there you'll never be free."
MJ: "Free? What are you talking about? Peter still means a lot to me.."
John: "No no he's in your head. He treats you bad. I can tell. He's hurt you hasn't he?"
(MJ was about to deny that when memories of the night at the Jazz club flashed into her mind, causing her to hesitate which only validated John's suspicion)
John: "Well I'm not gonna let him hurt you anymore. I won't let anyone hurt you ever again. And soon I'll have the power to make sure of it."
(John headed out the door leaving a bewildered and confused MJ alone in her apartment)
(When John exited the building he called his dad)
John: "Dad? About that offer you made me earlier? ...I accept."
